OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Does everyone do centerpieces and baskets for Meet And Greet?
Comment by diannep on July 18, 2015 at 12:20am

Diana:  Best to get there when the gates open (6:30) or shortly after for good seat selection in your division section.  You will be surprised how quickly the section fills up!

Any advice on how early we should get to graduation?
Comment by Jenndan on July 17, 2015 at 5:14pm
*quick* not wuick....how did that slip by me? I must need another cuppa tea!
Comment by Jenndan on July 17, 2015 at 5:12pm
Apparently, they are using a Quotient system test. It's pretty definitive. Heard from a fellow Chaplain that when an SR fails that, it usually means it's the end of the ride. SIGH.

He said Ship 6. After a wuick search, I found that it is overflow for the convalescence unit. He mentioned that he also had his wisdom teeth removed (not sure when though) so maybe that's why? It's tough trying to piece it all together when the phone connection is dropping every third word. I guess we'll just have to wait and see and continue to pray.

diannep and lawlady - I feel 100% better. Everyone told me it would be okay but until I heard from him, I was struggling. So glad that I get to communicate with all of you on here. It really helps!

Karen93, You're not the first to receive and empty envelope,a nd you won't be the last, I think it just happens. Too much going on, in a hurry wrong envelope grabbed, etc.

The RTC cannot read mail before it goes out, it is against the law, they wouldn't remove anything.

Again, it happens once and a while, don't worry about it. Your next envelope may contain two letters.

Comment by Karen93 on July 17, 2015 at 12:06pm

Thanks for the information diannep.  I'm glad to hear others have experienced this.  LOL... in 28 days we'll be seeing him and will get a good laugh as you suggested!
