Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

my son is a little older, birthday next week. :( he will be 27. He put a lot of thought into this decision.
Still miss him a lot even though he has not been living with us for a few years. He is my oldest son.
I bought decorations yesterday as I understand the custom is to decorate the hotel room door.

Since we still haven't heard from him, and expecting a call for another week, really hoping all is well.

It would be a Blessing and Honor to have your Naval Chaplain husband in his dress whites at PIR!! He has a high calling to serve the Lord in the Navy and I think it would be very special for both of you to be seated in the VIP section~~ Where else would a Navy Chaplain be welcome in his full regalia than at a Navy Pass in Review Ceremony?! Hope he decides to go for it! <></

Comment by racermom55 on June 30, 2015 at 3:51pm: I am not sure how people are allowed in the chapel, but I was fortunate enough to go to my nephew's PIR over a year ago and watched it in the chapel. He had put me on his list because someone he had on the list couldn't make it. Unfortunately, when I got there, my name was not on the list at the gate. They allowed me to come in and when my name was not on the list to go into the ceremony either, I was escorted to the chapel. I am not sure if everyone is able to go to the chapel, or if it is just for those who were suppose to be on the list and somehow mistakenly were not. I guess I am saying, I am not sure they allow more than four people in per recruit. My nephew only had three on his list, so I would have been his fourth. Not sure if this is helpful or not.
