N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Megan:  Also, to get into PIR, you will need govt issued photo ID for yourself (drivers license, passport, etc...make sure they are not expired....they will not accept expired ones)....and for your daughter, she will need either her birth certificate or social security card.

*but they operate as shuttles for PIR

Comment by diannep on July 9, 2015 at 4:06pm

Sarge runs a shuttle service from/to the airports, to/from PIR, and around town, so those who need a ride to PIR can contact him at: 847 212 0246  He is actually a taxi company with lots of drivers, but the operate as shuttles for PIR.

Megan:  Navy Gateway is actually on A School base, not on RTC.  Navy Lodge is not on RTC either...it is about a mile away in the housing area.  Not walkable to PIR because the route is not pedestrian-friendly from Navy Lodge.  Nor is Gateway since it would be about a 2 mile walk from the hotel to RTC.  Is there any particular reason why you picked Gateway and not Navy Lodge?  Is your SR going to be staying in GL for A School or flying out?

Got letter from my SR! He is doing great, very excited to get bootcamp over with. He told me that his DIV 267 was able to watch fireworks for about 5 mins!

You are very welcome!   Look over to the left side of this page under the events calendar, all of the Sarges Meet & Greet are over there, one at the bottom is the one for 8/13.  I'm going to try and get the link to post in here also but haven't had too much luck with that in the past :)

Sarges meet and Greet at the Sundance Saloon? I've not heard of that.. what is it and how can I get more info on that?

Thank you so much Amy for all of your help! I really appreciate it :]

Don't know about Navy Gateway, I booked at Navy Lodge only because it was close to the base, within a mile.  I had to book my room at Navy Lodge in my son's name because they are a navy motel but Gateway looks different.  If it's on base you probably need a military id but I would call just to make sure.  Don't need a pass for the shuttle from airport.  I'm driving so will have my car and know that I need a "gate pass" to get thru the gates so I'm now sure about shuttles to & from especially if you are "on base"??   Sorry I can't be of more help on that one!   We should get there around noon or a little after on Thursday and are planning on going to the Sarges Meet & Greet at the Sundance Saloon, it's suppose to be pretty informative!!!
