N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Good morning everyone, hitting the road this morning with the rental truck and heading back home to the mountains. This was the quickest trip to the beach ever and the hotel had feather pillows. UGGGG I can't breathe lol

jappy, I do still make the ribbons for anyone who would like to get them. They have become a Navy Family tradition :) You can still order them from my website. If you need the link just let me know or send me a message.

Babs the ribbons have your recruits name or Proud Mom/Dad/Grandma etc on one side and DIV on the other side. They also have an anchor and stars on them and if the Sailor for whom they represent has other family members who are or have served they have a flag on them as well. They are a great way to show your sailor how proud you are of them and they make a great keepsake of this very special event. They are also a great way to find people who you have met on this site and the facebook group because many of them will be wearing them and those not on these two site don't really know about them. Most people wear them to the meet and greet if they go and to PIR and many wear them to the airport. I even have some who get them for family who can't go so they can be a part of the celebration as well :) I know grandparents who have worn them to church for weeks in a row. It is an awesome thing to see so many people representing their new sailors in such a special way. Each one is handmade by me with love of love and Navy Mom Pride <3 Let me know if you have any other questions and if you would like the link just send me a friend request :)

PERFORMING DIV

Do you have someone in the performing/900’s division? Performing divisions info:

There are actually three different performing divisions that rotate. One is a working group called ships staff and they work behind the scenes with VIP's and as greeters, side boys and body snatchers. Side boys form a Receiving line for the VIP's to enter through at the start of the ceremony. Body snatchers walk up and down the isles of sailors and make eye contact and even speak to the sailors to make sure they are not about to pass out. They often lock their knees because they have to stand in one spot for such a long time. If they lock their knees it can cut off the blood flow and cause them to faint. Of course the sailor behind them does their best to catch them :) Another part of the performing divisions is the flag corps and they carry and perform with the 50 state flags during the ceremony. The third part is known as The Triple Threat. The Triple Threat is made up of the band, drill team and choir and they all perform throughout the ceremony. It is so amazing how they can pull this all off in such a short time and still accomplish all that is to be done during boot camp. They are either chosen for this division or they can volunteer for it. If they have band, flagcorps, drill team, choir, or marching experience they can volunteer. They can also be handpicked or volunteer if they have high ASVAB scores. They don't expect them to need as much time to study which gives a lot more time for practice  Once they are in the performing DIV they may be able to try out to be a part of the Triple Threat and be in the band, choir, or drill team. I hope this helps you all understand what your recruits are doing. The Performing division does not march in like the other divisions because they are doing so many other things. The still have a section marked for the families to sit and it is near the center next to the honor recruit section. I know you may think you will be disappointed that they don't march in like the other divisions but you will be amazed at all they do and they will be AWESOME. Bring the tissues, you are going to need them :) And you may get to see your recruit in their uniform from pictures taken at the two PIR’s before their own. They perform at two PIR’s and their own unless there is a week with no PIR group.

LaLa - your help last time I went thru this experience in October was awesome?  Are you still selling PIR ribbons?  I also understand you daughter was in a 900 division any input or information you can give me on this would be great!!! my daughter is in 940 and I guess that is a sticks and Flags division so I'm not sure what that entails.

Hey everyone, I want to give you a "HEADS UP" to be prepared to receive calls from your SRs this weekend!  The call will show up as "847", "Pay Phone", or "Government" or anything else that may be unfamiliar.  If it is a sales call, just politely tell them "No, thank you."

During this time in Boot Camp, please keep your cell phones charged, ready, and with you all the time---upstairs, downstairs, out in the backyard, in the bathroom, out to get the mail, of course, out on errands.  If you are going to a loud restaurant or a movie theater, remember to put it on "vibrate" and put in your pocket or some place you can feel it.  They can call during the week or weekend, so just be prepared:  6:00 am - 6:00 pm (West Coast); 8:00 am - 8:00 pm (Great Lakes time); 9:00 am - 9:00 pm (East Coast).
