N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Ok catmom509 you have defiantly made me feel better I could hardly sleep after that call. I really wished they would have waited on the dental part because with mouth hurting sore throat and just plain feeling rotten don't help. And as we all know as mothers we want to make them better. I just called on The Lord tonight and this morning for his speedy recovery so he can have his health and strength to get though this training and be the best sailor he can be. Thanks so much to all of you moms because you all have been a huge help to me and my family.

Ladies,

Your SRs are going into the "radio silence" mode where pretty much the only contact you will have is their weekly letters.  They are entering the intense and busy part of their training.  They will be tested on their barracks, uniforms, marching, and how well they finally pull together.  They can earn reward flags to hold proudly in front of their divisions at PIR.  At the end and right before they start going into Battlestations, they may be allowed a call if they are doing well as a division.  This is in addition to their "I'm a Sailor" call, so rest easy girls, this phase is part of the home stretch!!  Keep writing those letters!!

Ship 13, Div 306 My son called his fiancé tonight around 9.  He was extremely upset because he only had 5 mins and he said it would be the last call.  She told me that he was pretty much crying.  We were indeed spoiled with our other calls.  We need to be very grateful we received any calls at all because from what I understand its highly unusual.  But, it hurts terribly.  I can't even imagine how hard it is on them.  I hope and pray they get a few more opportunities to call.  Does anyone know what week/day they are on now?  I don't think the first few days counted.

Just got off the phone with Tyler he sounded good but alittle down due to still having a cold and having two wisdom teeth out. He said this would be the last call they get without earning them. And he only got to talk 5 minutes then they made them all hang up. It was bittersweet!!

I also was spoiled with calls from my son the last two Saturdays. I did tell him that today we would be in the ocean sailing North and he said if he could he would call his brothers. I was within cell phone service sailing the south coast of Long Island but no call. I have to say that of all the thing s I have ever looked forward to I can't wait for his PIR. It is 8/16 and we have reservations all set. I am so proud to tell people my son is in theUS Navy.
