OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I just sent off the first letters and phone cards to my son. I know he won't have much time, but I still hope he will have a chance to call or write soon. I miss him terribly. Funny that I thought I wouldn't, but I do. Glad to have this site to see that other's feel the same as I do.

Your SRs will have an opportunity in the last couple of weeks to update their guest list for PIR. Hopefully Monday the RTC will have posted the divisions for this group, which will also give the number of guests that may attend PIR.

When they arrive they are being yelled at to hurry and move along, even when filling out the form letter. Some recruits have put pets names, "mom", "dad" etc. they will get it fixed.

I called my sons recruiter to find out his PIR and TG. The only info in the system was a PIR of 8/16. Well at least that was confirmed for me. Now to wait for the letter!

webb1090, Be aware that the number of guests on the form letter may not be correct. Don't count of the number of guests until the RTC posts the total number of divisions.

The 08/09 PIR group had four guests on their form letters and ended up with only three allowed, so it happens.

licis gramma, yay, must be a great ship and division to be in. :)

Comment by ellen0502 on June 27, 2013 at 1:54pm

luv my sailorS, The total number of divisions for this TG has not yet been posted, so not sure yet about the number of guests allowed at PIR.

So far I have counted eleven divisions, 299/308 and 940, which would mean 4 guests. If divisions 309/310  are in this TG, which I haven't seen any yet, that would bring the total to 13, which would be 3 guests per recruit.

The RTC will probably post the divisions for this training group on Monday which will give the number of guests allowed.
