My son is also in this ship and division. He also graduated in May of this year and turned 18 one week before he left. This one is definitely harder than my first son who graduated from boot camp in May 2011. My son plays the french horn; he only played it for 2 years in high school so I hope he isn't having too much trouble keeping up! All I've gotten so far is the form letter but, knowing my son, if they can sleep their extra time away on Sunday that's what he's doing!!! He likes lots of sleep like I do! I'm glad to meet other moms whose children are also in this awesome group. I can't wait til the july 27th PIR; that should be their first PIR performance. We may see pictures!!!!! I'm so excited about it. Hope all of you get to hear from your SRs this week. Good luck and let us know if any of you get a call or letter; that means maybe the rest of us will too. Have a great day!
Hi All,
I received my first real letters today from my SR. What a joy to hear from her. Hoping that others in this division will get letters today too. She said they received mail for the first time on July 6 so they were anxiously waiting too.
I expected her to sound a lot more sad, but her biggest complaint was that she misses everyone. She said she's a little anemic but they put her on iron, not a big deal. She just kept stressing how important the letters are and to keep writing. It was wonderful to hear from her and to know she's doing okay. Hope yours comes today too, saying a prayer!
Has anyone in this division had a phone call yet? Just curious, would so like to here my daughters voice.
Hey, no news is good news!! Got a call from my daughter last Mon. She was in hospital but is doing fine now. They let them call if they get sick. Hope it won't set her back. Have not heard anything since. We have received 1 letter it took 4 days to get to us. Have you received the form letter yet? Nothing here
My daughter called today, we got to talk for about 3 minutes. She's sick but said a lot of the division is. She did not have to go to the hospital. I've had my form letter for about 2 weeks and received a couple other letters on Wednesday this past week.
I received my form letter today!!!!!! My daughter did say alot of them were sick. I am so glad I got my form letter and I will watch the mail later on in the week. Are you planning on going to PIR?
Wow, I can't believe you had to wait that long, I'm so glad you finally received it. Yes, my husband and our other two children will all be there. My husband, son and I only live 3 hours from GL, but our daughter will be flying in from LA. She says she wouldn't miss her little sisters BC graduation for anything.
I did get to speak to my daughter again this evening for 22 minutes. She sounded a little sad and discouraged so I was just putting together a letter with some bible verses to try and lift her spirits.
I hope you receive another letter this week. It's good to have some kind of assurance that they are alive and well.
I'm guessing by now everyone got the 3 minute phone call this past Sunday. I was so shocked that he called that I couldn't think of all the questions I wanted to ask! You really can't ask a lot in 3 minutes. Only got the form letter from him so far but I didn't expect much correspondence from him. Sounds like their division is having some growing pains. I hope they can get it together before too long. It was wonderful hearing his voice; it was so strong and clear. Better than a letter any day. Of course you can read the letter over and over again! Hope you all heard from your SRs as well!!
Hi All, Hey are SR's should be performing at the graduation this Friday. If someone from that PIR takes pictures we might actually get to spy them. August 17th can't come soon enough for me!
Hi, 16 days left I am so excited. I had talked to someone who was going to be at PIR this Fri maybe she will post something. Last letter I received my daughter wrote July 20. And no phone calls.
