Hi ChrisF, I am pamelag and my son has the exact ship and division as your sailor. How are you holding up? I am adjusting little by little each day(smile). I wrote his first letter to him yesterday and mailed it and will try and write one everyday until I see him.lol! I am not sure if you have gotten this information ChrisF, but on August 16th from 6 to 8pm our PIR will meet and greet at the Ramada Waukegan, 200 North Green Bay Road in Waukegan, Illinois. If you can make it, I will look forward to meeting you! God Bless! from pamelag

Hi

My son is also Ship 3 Division 255. Just booked the hotel for PIR. Now I'm counting down the days. My daughter and I are driving from New Jersey to Great Lakes. My son is staying in Great Lakes for A school so we will be able to spend the weekend with him.

I had not gotten the Meet and Greet info.  Thanks.   I just booked the Hotel.  We will drive from Ohio and may not leave until after work on Thursday.  Not sure yet, we may leave at noon.    About a 6 hour drive.   My son also stays for A school at Great Lakes so we should have the weekend.   He will be an Operation Specialist.    I am doing OK.   Wrote him a letter late  last week and so did my husband and daughter.   Need to write another today.   We are part of the big storm that has hit the Ohio through the east and right now our town looks like a disaster zone.   We have power, but most of the town doesn't.  Had my son been home, he probably would not have a car.  We had a large limb fall from our giant Oak that would have crushed it.    It is really weird not being able to share this with him.

Sorry to hear about the damage you received from the storm. I saw new coverage about the damage that was caused in several states. My son will be an Operation Specialist too. I'm doing ok. It's  very strange not having him in the house or being able to talk to him. I definitely have to stop buying so much food.  I sent a letter out to him this morning, he's not big on writing already warned me he might not write to often. I haven't received anything info on the Meet and Greet either. I think they are the Thursday before PIR at the Ramada.

Mine is also a very independent young man who I am not expecting to here from very often.   We will try to write every few days so he gets something.    I am booked currently at the Homewood Suites so that we can get a two bedroom suite.   Right now, I am thinking to drive to base the morning of the 17th.

There is a facebook page for families with SR's graduating on 8/17....here is the link

Hello,

My son is in Ship 03, Division 255.  I also booked my hotel at Ramada.  They host a meet and greet.  They also provide a shuttle for graduation.  I went through http://military-hotels.us/ and got a better rate.  Thought I would share.

everyone please keep coming to this page. There are moms and other members who don't "do" facebook and they will be looking for support here. Some of them are here just reading posts who are too shy to post anything their selves so they rely on what they read here to get them through this experience. If you want some great facebook groups here are the ones I have seen the most activity on. Also remember some group are closed and some are not. You should never post any private info or ship movement, Sailor travel details on any page or group no matter if it is private, closed or open. Always be safe and keep your Sailor safe.

Received my first letter yesterday. He says P-Days were the worst so far. Now that they are over its not so bad. At least I know hes ok, that makes it easier.

We got a letter on Thursday :)    It was dated July 1st.   Sounds like the group is doing well.   He says it is not too bad, they march everywhere, the food is good.    We live in Ohio, and with the holiday that would be about right.   So if you live more than 6 hours away, you may get your letter later.  He thought they may get to call today, but I have not heard anything.  He may have meant next Saturday or  something may have changed during the week.

Take care !!

Battlestations tonight for our SR's. Holding my breath until I get the phone call on Monday. Someone on FB posted that Division 255 took 4th place in the Captains Cup. I was hoping for a call on Saturday, seems like many of the Divisions were calling after the Captains Cup. Leaving Wednesday to for Great Lakes. Can't wait to see my son.

Calls today could start around 2 pm GL time and go for a while so phones handy!
