Got our letter today.  So happy to see my son's writing on that envelope.  Now just waiting for the first letter from him. Just thought I would start a place for discussions for all the love ones of those in Ship 7 Div 259 and Div 260.

Mine is. Sent you a message too.

I got the letter too!!!!.  My son is in Ship 07 Div 259 PIR 8/17.

Hi there...I've gotten the box, no form letter yet. Maybe today. So the letter that you received, did it list August 17th as the date for PIR? I can't wait to hear from him and how he's been doing. His "I got here" call was neat, because he was so calm and relaxed and just totally excited about what was about to happen. It made me feel so much better. I was scared he was going to call and say "Get me the @#$% out of here. LOL

My son is in Div 260, BTW

Thanks for starting this thread!

Yes GoNavy, it says his PIR is 8/17!!! in his writing.  I cried just seeing his very neat hand writing.  I have hardly been able to read his writing for years.

Thx ibhmom!  My SR is SHIP 9 DIV 259.... got the letter today!!  Official and feeling better!  Lots to do with this site and all you awesome moms!

Ladies, I don't know if I am over-reacting or not, but I made my hotel reservations today, a few hours after getting the letter.  With such a big PIR, the choice rooms will probably fill quickly.  We had specific needs and I didn't want to be unable to get what we needed.  FTLW is thinking there will be at least 13 divisions graduating that day.  Just a thought.

Hello..we have received our letter as well.  PIR 08/17 Ship 7 Div 260.  No personal note on the letter was hoping to see one :( but, im sure in time he will write.

YEA! byoung!!!!!  Looks like our young men are in brother divisions.  At least i think that's the right term :)

Booked my room for PIR at the Ramada Inn. Does anyone know if it is nice or yucky? Also we have a person our son put on his list to come to PIR but he is active reserves. In the letter it says that active military won't count towards the four on the list. Does anyone know if this appliesOr not?

When my oldest graduated boot camp 4 years ago we stayed at the La Quinta in Gurnee.  I like it. It was close to everything.

I heard the Ramada was yucky, we moved to Springhill Suites in Lincolnshire.

There is a facebook page for families with SR's graduating on 8/17....here is the link
