OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Do they call home if they don't pass all of their test this week,  before Battle Stations?  And about what time do they start Battle Stations?  Thank you

Glad it is finally fixed, Lala!

Good Morning All!

You are welcome, Shannon!

navykid:  If your SR didn't get a voicemail prompt with the dropped call, then couldn't leave a message.  We ask this because if they make any supervised calls, for info, to give info, etc....they are not allowed to leave messages.  If they make a personal call, they can leave a message.

Well, regardless, you should be receiving a very great call early next week from your SAILOR!

Good morning everyone, I am finally back on here whooo hooo :) I finally got my computer back on Friday but it still wasn't fixed. I had sent it back to DELL and they put a new hard drive in it but didn't put anything back on the computer, not even windows operating system. So I took it back to Best Buy again and they fixed everything and it seems to be working so far. I for sure got a lemon and I absolutely will never buy another DELL. I'm just glad to be able to get on this site again :)

Usually those who are undesignated are the ones who find out in boot camp where they will be stationed I beleive and those who are going to do honor guard after boot camp will know that as well. Those going to A-school for a rate won't find out until after they have a test in A-school that give them their class rank. Whoever does best in the class gets first pick of orders and then down the line from there. :)

Alicia in AZ,

My Sailor daughter found out where her duty station would be verbally, about 3 weeks prior to the end of A school.  Then she got the hard copy orders that confirmed it.
