OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

My son is ship 14 div 260 and i have not heard from my son either alexsmom..The letters and phone calls have to be coming soon

Comment by DMansMom on July 11, 2014 at 1:19am

@alexsmom - My son is also in Ship14 Div259. He called briefly on Tuesday, but only because he needed information. It wasn't a social call, but he said that he might get to call on Saturday. So keep your phones close! I took the opportunity to let him know that I had mailed a bunch of letters and he apologized that he hadn't had the time. My son is not much of a writer either, so I'm really hoping for a phone call so that I can find out how things are going!

Gals,

Their letters may still be on their way or they got selected for a recruit job with alot of responsiblities!!  Check out the questionnaires in the "Letter Writing & Fun Stuff/Questionnaires..." you can customize them to fit your situation and what you want to know.  Include a stamped self-addressed envelope with it so all your SR has to do is fill it out and pop it in the mail to you~~

Feeling sad haven't heard from my son yet. Ship 14 div 259. I will be surprised when I do my boys just aren't the type to write a letter. I was just hoping.

Martinimom no letter yet here, just the box on the 1st of July and the form letter on the 8th.

@SailorMoon9506, first of all congrats on the teaching position!  First grade is my dream job.  It's very competitive here, I don't know how I'm supposed to compete with veteran teachers with years of experience....we all have to start somewhere, right.  I'm glad that I have my master's program that I'm working on.....it keeps me occupied and not missing my SR as much.  I hope the letters help with your other daughter.  I don't think anyone really likes change, some just handle it better than others.  My younger son has been wearing his brothers clothes since he left.  That might be how he is dealing with him being gone....I guess I can't be too upset.  I hope to get some letters soon.

my son is in ship14/ div 259 and the only things I have received are the box and the form letter.  Has anyone in that division received any letters yet?  News of any kind?

Congrats on being offered that teaching position!!

Awww, that's sweet your SR daughter was able to write so much to your family.  Her sister must be so very happy right now!
