Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

WooHoo!!!!!!!! We got 10 letters in the mail today!!!!! And I was officially offered the first grade position I wanted!!!!!!!!! She sounds like she is having a hard time coping, but tells herself one meal at a time. She also worries a lot about her little sister, since they are 11 1/2 years apart, they are very close. Her sister doesn't do change well, and the last couple of days that has shown in her behavior. She was very excited to have so much mail from Sissy in the mail box. I am hoping that the letters will help her!

We also received personal letters today. Mailed on Monday 7-7. Doing well, sounds much better than He did on the first phone call. So ladies the letters are coming. Yah!

I should have said, the SRs are too scared to ask the RDCs for a 2nd form letter many times....

ProudNavyMom: Usually only one form letter is sent out. However, I had been told by someone who works up there that in a divorce case, the SR can request to send out a 2nd letter...However, many are too scared to do it. Sigh....hoping that you each get one! Your SR should be able to give you the password for the gate pass....he has to write it in the form letter.

I have a silly question that I didn't have the foresight to ask before my son left. He was living with his dad just prior to going to BC. Will both his father and I get a form letter? Mostly I guess I just need the code to get a pass for driving on base for graduation.Or will only one be sent out? Also, does anyone have family in Ship 13, Division 258? If so, has anyone received their form letter yet?

Thanks so much for the update Alicia in AZ. Maybe we will receive a letter today. We live in Tucson. So looking forward to hearing from him. Moonchild maybe we both will get letters today. So hope so.
