~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Question: how can I join the group of moms who's recruits are in the same division as my daughter?

Received my daughter's form letter. I was surprised when I saw her penmanship. It looks very official. I am so happy. We have a date for graduation, and I heard from her.

My daughter arrived on June 24th, got her box the 27th, and her letter today! Get to start planning now. We may actually be driving and letting our youngest daughter see some sights!!

Welcome to all of you here!  Glad you found the group, and Diane, glad to have you back for a 2nd time!  You can "fill in the gaps" for some of the newbies!

The divisions mail out the form letters at different times, with the last divisions filling up sending them out later than the first divisions.  It can sometimes take up to 2 weeks or longer to receive your form letters, so try not to worry!

Hello, my son got to Great Lakes on 6/24.  I received his box on Friday.  I didn't receive the form letter yet, but am hopeful to get it at least by Wednesday, since they were dated the 27th.

Hi everybody. My daughter got to great lakes on June 23. We got her box on Wednesday, and the form letter on Saturday. We live in Illinois, that is why we have the form letter already. It is post dated June 27, so you all should be getting your letter really soon. This is our second round of boot camp, our son had PIR last October 25 and he is now serving on the USS GEORGE H.W. BUSH. I am already counting the Friday's until I get to hug my daughter again. The first week actually went by quickly.

Hi!

Welcome to Navy for Moms!!

My Sailor Daughter's PIR was March 2013--can't believe how fast time has flown!.  She is an IT3 (Information Systems Technician, Petty Officer Third Class) stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. I primarily provide scriptural encouragement for the PIR groups, Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and a few of the other groups that I am a member of.  I'll also help out with anything that I am familiar with--all kinds of tidbits I learned during my daughter's Boot Camp experience~~  This site really made the time go much faster.  I'm so thankful that my Sailor daughter sent me the link for this awesome group of friends when she enlisted!!  Count 9 Fridays and before you know it, you'll be seeing your baby again at PIR!!  Here we go!!!
