~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

BeckyW my son is on ship 13 div 312 so that is a brother group for your SR in 311 nice to meet you and I am very excited to plan. Just got an email from a freind who had a son graduate and she gave me all the good resturants to eat at, and things to see. I am in Nor cal where are you from
My son is Ship 13, Div 311. So excited to finally be able to write and make travel plans. Anyone else have a loved one in that group? :)

OMG! I just got the letter Now I can finally send him the letters we have been writing. So excited!
Thank You very much for your reply. That's just what I suspected. I have a highly organized mail station set up in my house and I keep paper with me at all times. ;) He kept to himself a lot and during DEP only talked to a few people besides me and worked out a lot. He even told me I should join the Navy before he left. lol He's my best friend and I just want to keep him in good spirits as much as possible.
I should add that they won't receive anyone's mail for the first 2 weeks either. It is held until the Recruit Mail Petty Officer is trained.
milk: He should be able to write to you after he has been there about 2 weeks. So my guess is this weekend (Sunday), he will finally get a letter written to you...just get those letters ready to mail all at once when you get the address. If you know the phone number of his recruiter, it is possible that he/she has the address.
Good Morning All !
My boyfriend left on 6/24 for BC and I'm just trying to keep sane. His form letter is probably going to his mothers and we've only spoken on the phone, never met so i'm hesitant to call and see if she has his address yet even though he gave me her number and encouraged me to call in the past just to "talk". lol It's either that or madly stalk the mailman over the next few weeks haha. It might be wrong to assume this is his PIR date but it was added after he left so for now I'm going with it until I get further info.Things were a little crazy the last few weeks before he left so I have so many unanswered questions. He got very distant and just plain weird out of nowhere but I attribute it to nerves and he assured me WE were fine and it was just him. I am very secure in our relationship but all of a sudden I feel like he's just going to forget about me and never contact me again. I know it's probably irrational and I'm dealing with that ;) I write everyday and it's actually very therapeutic. If only I knew where to send them...
Mom of a sailor . Thank you for all the info. So glad for N4M ..
My daughter is also Sh 2-Div941 .. I look forward to exchanging info and tips. We are a new military family so every thing helps. Xoxo Miss not having her here, but like the saying goes, we cry for our children, they don't cry for us. So glad she is too busy to miss home too much. Haven't heard from her since the 25 second call. Thank God for N4M .. I feel like I have spoken to her with all the info.
Friends,
Also want to let you know that you can put your SR's cell phone on Military Suspension for the 2 months that he/she wiil be in Boot Camp. Just contact your cell phone carrier after your SR has made his/her "I'm Here" call and the phone is on its way back to you in The Box or any time after you get it back. You can do this for free and it will save on the monthly charges on that phone. You can re-activate it for the day before PIR. I was able to easily re-activate my daughter's cell phone online at Verizon Wireless.
