Hello all. My son is Div 267.

Got my letter too! So so glad.. of course my letter is one page but his girlfriend's is three pages!!
He sounds to be doing fine... Never realize how much folding and marching he would be doing!
He did mention that some of the SR are having a hard time following instructions and the RDC are mad and doing a lot of yelling..

The food is so so for him - he's into organic food... I'm sure he will adapt

He's definitely looking forward to A school in Texas..

Sad to hear about conflict in the divisions..

Yay!!!  Finally heard from my recruit today too!  He said the first 48 hours were the absolute worse but so far nothing about it is too great.  But he sounded strong, mature, and still had a sense of humor.  Said things I've never heard from him before like how much he misses and loves his family.  Who is this kid?  But he also said what a welcome relief chapel was. Said, "It was good to hear someone tell you to relax and then share uplifting words."  Said he would definitely be going back.  He said you need God too much in that place to not be there every chance you get.  He didn't mention any fighting but he said the stress level is high.  We need to pray for peace and unity for our guys.  Lots of mail and lots of prayer!

I am so glad everyone is getting letters!!! It is nice reading everything your kids are writing you...kinda gives me more info on whats going on.. Glad the DIV are getting their mail! Hopefully it will brighten their day :-)

Josh's girlfriend texted me and said she got "a bunch" of letters from him yesterday. Not sure what all they said but he did ask her to tell me that he loves me and misses me. She said that he didn't mention anything to her about being miserable so that is good. hehe.. And that he just seemed very anxious to start getting letters. I mailed some jokes with his letter today and I am sure that he will share with the others. :)     If anyone knows of some good joke sites, please let me know because I want to try sending him funnies when I write to cheer him up.

Josh's mom I write a joke at the end of each letter I write to Hunter. I want to end each letter with a smile on his face. I found www.thejokeyard.com has some good one liners so you don't have to write a long joke. I hope they all share the jokes with each other!

My son is Ship 09 Div 267. So new to this forum and hoping to meet other mom's who have sons in the same division. Only one phone call when he first arrived ~ the shell shocked voice on the other end was hardly recognizable and then the box arrived w/ all the belongings. Even the dental floss I argued with him to take. Hopefully they have some on campus. The small things we worry about to keep our minds off the larger things.

Welcome aboard Deirdre. What is your son's name? My son is Josh (obviously, haha) and he is Ship 9, Div 267 too. I know exactly how you feel. I am so worried about the kids and how they are all doing. *Since we are on week 3, I have my fingers crossed that they are getting adjusted to bootcamp and getting along okay.

Hi Josh's Mom!!! So glad to hear from another mother :) My son is Kevin Ward. He's son #2 out of four boys and I have one daughter~ last call. Even despite our large family, Kevin's personality is very much missed. His letter to the kids sounded upbeat, but his note to us had a little less enthusiasm. I guess he may have been called out on something. Still awaiting letter #3. Fingers crossed all is going well.

Hi and sorry for the delayed response. I just moved this past weekend and am trying to get everything in order in the new house. :)    Aww @ his letter to you. I hope that he is doing better now. My son actually is the "mail guy" so he is handling everyone's incoming and outgoing mail. Amazingly though, I have yet to receive a single letter from him though his girlfriend told me she received "a bunch". LOL... typical teenager. hehe.. I have tried to write him every day but work and life have gotten into the way a time or two and I have missed a day or so here and there.

I definitely miss his personality but I am so extremely proud of him that I could just burst. Believe me, I am new to this whole thing too. No one in my family has ever served the military, aside from a distant cousin and I know nothing about any of this stuff. I am soooo thankful for this site and being able to talk to other moms who can relate to what I am going through. Please feel free to message me at any time. I hope the boys are friends and are working together as a team. :)   *I have encouraged teamwork in every letter that I have written to Josh because I know there are personality conflicts among them.

Hi Its nice to meet you Deirdre! My son is also in DIV 267...Don't worry about him being called out on something...I'm sure a lot of them have... I know my son was having a huge prob.he said he gets yelled at for saying YES SIR.. we have always taught our kids to say yes sir and no sir.... Well I can tell you one thing that is what a Chief hates to be addressed as the most!! They are just waiting for someone to call them sir... Trust me I know! We are a navy family and My dad was Navy for 26 years so this world is not new to me... But let me tell you, it is A LOT diff. when it is your child vs. your Husband or Father.. Your son and all of our Kids will be ok and get trough it... Can't wait to meet everyone!!!

Sir or Mam(female officer) are to address officers only Not sure what the RDC wants to be addressed as I came from the Army side but in the BC in the Army it was yes Drill Sargent or No Drill Sargent.
