Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 287 and 288

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important

Every single concern is genuine

Every single member is important to us

We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

Glad you got your letter too. You can also print a pic from your computer and then use the white space around it or on the back to write to your SR. Our SR also wanted pics. Have already send a couple but hope to send several by printing them on the computer in this way.

He said he is so busy he didn't have time to miss us until he started to write... then, he says, he got teary-eyed, but continued that the other guys were too! So sweet. Love boot camp bringing out the sensitive side of this kid...one rarely seen!

I got my letter today. He says he is doing great. Div. 287. He said their division is very chatty, so they are doing a lot of extra pt.

I got my letter yesterday too!  He said he likes it but the bed was like sleeping on a rug.  He is having all four wisdom teeth out this week, I hope he makes it through that with no complications.  I was surprised that he said they were still in P-days.  I thought they were only in those for 5 days?  Did your son say anything about it?  We were so happy to get his letter and at the end of his letter he told his little sister to get out of his room!  Then he added Just kidding!  We all laughed and she thought that was so special.

I got 3 letters from my son yesterday!!!  My SR is in Division 288 also. I am barely holding it together.  My SR just graduated from High School in May and then wisked off to the Navy.  We did start the process over a year ago but I just wasn't ready.  My SR wont even be 18 until 3 days before Graduation.  I am so proud but with him being my youngest, I miss him dearly.  My SR seemed really down in his letters, which brought me to tears but I wrote back trying to raise his spirits. He is not one that is a Mommy's boy but I guess being so far away and no way to talk to us regularly its getting to him.  He has always wanted to be in the Military so I hope he pulls through.  He has been in JROTC all 4 years of High School preparing for this but I think him being so passive its a little rougher.  I am not sure.

I know it's hard, but he'll pull through.  Mine also graduated in May, and had been DEP for nearly a year.  He's not a Mommy's boy either, but is extremely home sick.  My SR is my middle one, but my oldest went to college. This was much harder. We only have to wait 40 days to see them. =)

My son is in division 288. I received two letters in one envelope.  He seems to be doing well,  but definitely home sick. I like the idea of printing a picture and writing in the blank space.

Just checking in . . . .our son is 287.  We just got back in town this weekend so first thing this morning I was standing at the post office to pick up our mail that has been on hold.  We got his form letter and his first handwritten letter.  I didn't even wait to get back out to my car to open it. . . I was standing in the post office with tears rolling down my face. . . .happy tears.  Because of that, 2 different strangers stopped to talk to me, one had a son in the Marines and before we were thru with our conversation she was crying too. . . .the other one was a man who was a Navy Veteran and he said he loved every minute of it and I think he said he was in for 24 years. . . .you'll be glad to know I didn't make him cry too LOL

Love it!! Isn't it amazing how certain people get placed in your path?! That's awesome thanks for sharing! :)

Got my 2nd letter today! My SR says bunkmates near him are yeomens who do paperwork for the RDC and that a phone call is scheduled for this Saturday, that he doesn't know what time, but that we better be home! :) You bet we will!

He also reiterated that Tuesdays are their first day of training each week, and they just started week 2 this past Tuesday. So today is 2-3. Seems like it should be longer, but that is what it is.

He says he's making friends with others who are going to be SECFs like him so that's cool. (Those were his words, but I think it's pretty cool too.) Sounds upbeat. Grateful.

YEAH!!! DianaLynn I am so excited for you!  That means i should have one today too i hope!!  Hoping div 287 and 288 both get to call saturday!  it is mine and my hubbys anniversary too!

I really hope you they get to call that day too. That'd be a nice anniversary gift for you.

So excited to get the first letter from him! He left July 1, and I've been sending constant letters since his mom received his form letter. AHH. Getting anxious!
