Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Hellraiser78382, my daughter is stationed in Greece and we use the iPhone face time to talk at no extra charge. All she would need is WiFi. So far it's worked great for us. Before I got an iPhone, we were able to call through Facebook messenger. That worked also. Good luck to your daughter in going to Italy. Hopefully my son who is now in A school in Pensacola will get a good choice of station!

Just want to say the info in the group is awesome! My sailor just caught her plane and so we r heading back home. I want to give my feedback on the whole experience. It was phenomenal! The information in this group was accurate. I will say The Navy lodge is great the staff was extremely nice. It could use a Lil updating but nothing major. Keep in mind it's the Hilton. I would rather stay there with friendly guest and service then somewhere snooty! I knew what to expect when day of PIR. I knew to have gate pass and id's ready. We was in line about 6am. It actually opened about 620 and by 630am we where parking. Got inside followed instructions and was smooth sailing. They have tables set up to help identify u on the checklist. Got in the Graduation hall and got our seats. Go early cause it fills up fast. Please if u bring extra guest they will have to go to the chapel. I will let u know that the live feed was out for the first 25mins and alot of people i heard got upset. It is a good walk from the graduation hall to the chaple. They got it on just in time to watch them doors open and The Sailors come in. Afterwards u get about 10 mins to see your Sailor and They kick u out of the drill hall. But then the ones leaving A school get's released ASAP unless they have watch. The ones staying get about 20 mins amd then have to go do theit stuff and about 230pm they start getting released. U must have gate pass and id's when dropping them amd picling them up. Absolutely no pictures are allowed to he taken outside of the center if they see u, they will make u delete them and/or take your memory card. We actually watched the guards walk up to a couple people and made them delete some photos. Other then that it was awesome and thanks again for everything!
