~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

SeaBeeseanmom--I stayed at the Quality Inn Waukegan. we found it relatively close and convenient and no issues.

Anyone have pictures that turned out for the August 29th Graduation? my son graduated and pics turned out blurry :(  he was in division 268. Please let me know, would love to have a few emailed to me! Thanks

Seabeeseanmom:  I should add that if you call the hotels I listed below, and we recommend you call them directly, ask them for their Navy Graduation discount.  Usually about what AAA discount is but they only reserve a certain number of rooms for this rate.  Navy Lodge doesn't have it.

Comment by diannep on September 4, 2014 at 12:21pm

...other hotels to consider would be:

Navy Lodge (close to RTC, good prices, I understand they have a shuttle now for PIR....book in your SR's name if you do not have military id)

Springhill Suites, Courtyard, Residence Inn (all Marriotts), Holiday Inn Express....all close together....near Walmart shopping center with restaurants nearby....good area....4-5 miles from RTC....near Sarge's MeetandGreet held the night before PIR.

Seabeeseanmom:  TripAdvisor reviews have been pretty accurate about some of the other hotels.

Congratulations to all PIR 8/29 grads!! If anyone stayed at Quality Inn, Waukegan--how was it? I've got a reserve on rooms there for 9/12 PIR, but it got a few bad reviews on yelp. Should I pay any attention to that?

tammy 1226...here's the info:

For T-shirts for a PIR date of 05/17/2013 or after: Your Recruits will have the first opportunity to order apparel imprinted with their unique Divisional Flag design allowing them to capture this valuable memory that will follow them throughout their Navy career. Family and friends can stop by after graduation at building 1326 to purchase additional apparel. The MWR does not accept personal checks as payment; all payments must be made with cash or credit card. Orders may be placed beginning on the Monday following your Sailor's graduation date through the American Outfitters (AO) website www.aomwr.com. AO will digitally print your order and ship it right to your home or your Sailor's “A” School. AO will keep the design on file for one year from the Sailor’s graduation date to fulfill guest orders. If you have any questions or concerns please contact them at retail@mwrgl.com.

NOTE: Warn your recruits that "Ladies" T-shirts are cut differently than other T-shirts (they are tapered) and they will want to order at least one size larger than they normally do when ordering for adult women or just order within the men's sizes for everyone. They are similar to "Junior" sizes. The website includes this "NOTE: Junior Fit - Runs Small" but your recruit may or may not see or hear that when making his/her order.

hmarie,

Thanks for you input!  That would be one more feather in their cap to provide a free shuttle service to PIR!!

I just went through that today.  I gave them  his DD93 showing he enlisted and me as beneficiary and then the form letter with grad date for the qualifying event to remove him from my coverage.  They seemed to think that would suffice since its all on official Navy letterhead and forms.
