Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed.  Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

OK...HEADS UP PIR GROUP! I've seen a lot of Veteran BC Moms talk about decorating their hotel room doors for PIR. I'm a crafting fool, so I definitely want to get in on this action. Time seems to be slipping away, so I thought I'd put this out there so that we can all start getting our creative juices flowing and start collecting supplies to make our door signs.

Do any of the Admins have helpful tips in regard to this? Since I'm traveling by air, I have to figure out how I'm going to make mine transportable. I'm thinking of maybe getting my husband to make a banner for me and then I can add to it when I get there. Let's get those ideas flowing!

A waterproof sign (8-1/2 by 11) with a couple of suction cups.  Put it in the shower, under the showerhead.  On the sign:  "Take ALL the time you want!"

That's EXACTLY it Mamag. My hubby works for a sign shop, so I can get him to design it for me as far as words and some graphics and then I will add the "Bling" to it to jazz it up.

I'm sure you can just purchase plain banner material from a sign shop too.
I was discussing this with my hubby today who works at a sign shop, and he suggested printing on Tyvek material instead of using banner material. It's a lot like paper, but doesn't tear and is waterproof. Also, it's cheaper and lighter weight. We are going to design it together and then he will print on the material and I plan on "blinging" it up when we arrive at GL.

Ok I think I am late to the party.  What exactly are these signs for?  and are they allowed?

Many of the parents or loved ones of SRs make a sign to decorate their hotel room doors to celebrate their SR and make them feel special. It's a fun way to connect to other families too. You can cover the whole door or just make a sign to hang on the door. You can't take signs to PIR, but this is something fun to do if you like.

I need to confirm if this is at all the hotels around base or just at the Navy Lodge.
DO NOT bring a sign or banner to the PIR Hall. They may deny you entry into the ceremony and you'll miss out on this special event. Make a sign for your hotel room or put one in your car. But don't get your SR in trouble.

They make Navy door banners, I ordered one and they look beautiful! 

I am gathering and making all the embellishments for our poster. I decided to purchase the poster board when we get closer to the location (we are driving up from Florida) and then putting it all together once we arrive. I also sent an e-mail to our hotel Holiday Inn Libertyville to make sure there are no restrictions on the posters 

I did make sure everything I wanted on the poster would fit , and have a drawing of where each element needs to go 

"FYI. I checked with my hotel Holiday Inn Libertyville. They will allow posters on room doors only if they are hung using putty. NO tape or nails. The tacky putty can be purchased at any hardware store or craft store. I already have some which I use…"

What about using a plastic table cloth to hang on the door to decorate? You could have the letters, flags, & other decorations ready to go & assemble it upon arrival at the hotel.
