~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Speaking of health insurance coverage.  I called my insurance company today and they said they would need proof of when his medical coverage began in order to take him off.  So what paperwork exactly would show that? Should I have my son print up something on his benefits website (DEERS I think it is)?  I asked if his enlistment papers would be enough and they said that they needed proof of when coverage began.  UGH...this is going to be a process.

We bought $13 binoculars at Big 5 before we left and it was a BIG HELP for sure. They were small and compact and did a GREAT job.

Thank you hmarie3 for the firsthand report on the shuttle. I didn't use it, but saw it and heard how it worked. And catmom...Sarge showed up to pick up a guest, but I didn't particularly see any other taxi service.

Good morning!  I was able to go to my HR office and show them the DDForm93 my son gave me at the swearing in and the form letter with grad date on the official letterhead to prove the qualifying event was his PIR date.  they said it was hard to get the military proof of insurance since they had quite a few parents dropping coverage for sons/daughters in military and this seemed like pretty good proof of insurance coverage for HR.

CatMom509 - The shuttle from the Navy Lodge was free and was provided by the NEX. We heard later that they may charge in the future although no confirmation on that for sure. We were the first group they tested that service on and it seemed to go over quite well.

Sierrascrapper,

Regarding the new Navy Lodge shuttle, were guests charged for it either way or was it complimentary roundtrip for Navy Lodge guests??  Could you tell if a particular taxi service was providing the shuttles?  Thanks for the info!!

Thanks ctl mom!  I will take them to HR and if they don't recognize it will go straight to my medical and dental care providers!  The ironic thing is i work for an insurance company!!
