~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

@Tam2014-I'm grateful that I'm prepping my room(and sub plans!). It keeps me busy. My son commented on this before he left…"At least you have to get your classroom ready, Mom.Otherwise, you'd be a basket case!" I have a fantastic boss who understood that I'd be gone for three days the second week of school! My son spent time volunteering at the school before he shipped out, he's part of the school family now and they're as excited for him as I am!

It's back to school time. My husband and I are both educators. I've been so busy with work. I have guilt that I'm not obsessing over my son. I'm not posting much but reading all the posts every night. Welcome to those who just joined us!

Welcome RaeMac and Gwenji77!  So glad you have joined our group!  We are all in this together and we are getting closer and closer to PIR!  Our SRs are going to make it and so are we!

MOM MasterofMotivation...yes, that crud is definitely still going around.  My son has had a persistent cough lately.  I am hoping in his next letter he doesn't still have it.  It seemed like he mentioned in his last one that he had gotten over it after he spent a day SIQ.  Thank goodness he went to medical to have them look at it.  My son says he uses a LOT of honey on his PB.  So I know they can get honey, but I doubt they have access to green tea, but who knows. Definitely having fruits and veggies high in Vitamin C is a good idea.  My son took a multi-vitamin every day for a month before he left for BC.  Not sure it totally helped, but it may have at least helped make him not get as sick as some of the other recruits anyway.

Good evenings ladies, I got another letter from my son today.  He is excited he passed many test and that they received, their new uniforms.  He is proud of being pinned the National Defense Medal.  He is looking for to doing Battlestations.    The other news is that old coughing bug is still around.  He mentioned while he was on watch a SR woke up with a very high fever and they had got to OOD.  He glad to see him return the next day.  That SR was bordering on pneumonia.    My SR asked what home remedies he could get at the galley.   I basically advised him to eat fruits and vegetables rich in Vit. C and if possible to drink green tea with peppermint candy if they it allowed there if not with honey.  So pray for their health mothers.

Catmom509. He will be going to Nuke school in SC. It is so strange to think of him so far from home.
