OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

YEA MsTink!  So happy you got your letter today!

Looking forward to getting to know you all, but I think I need to create a spreadsheet just to remember who is who.  LOL

LOL CatMom...well I have been in training for a year. Learning and watching from all of you GREAT Veteran BC Moms.  But this is my first and only one.  I have twins, but my other twin has no interest in military life.  He is going to the local university this fall.  So PROUD of both of my boys. I wrote that verse in my latest letter to my son today.  It is PERFECT!

I got to talk for about 10 minutes this morning best call ever he is home sick but sounds like things are going very well thank the lord! Nothing like hearing his voice on the other end of the phone I feel very blessed and happy today :)

nurse:  They get to update their guest lists shortly before PIR.  It is a good idea for you to send the names exactly as they are listed on ID to your SR so that he has them there to tweak on the list shortly before PIR.

Sierrascrapper:  Brother divisions train together....so they know each other!

Welcome to Bootcamp, ladies!  I'm surprised this group is so busy already.  That is GREAT!  I am one of the N4Moms veterans on here to help.  I have been doing this now since early 2010, and love helping.  Please ask any questions you like and one of us will respond when we can!

Get ready for an emotionally up and down rollercoaster ride but PIR (graduation) is the best!
