~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Good morning Navy family, I am spending the weekend with lots of family celebrating my Sailor's baby girls first birthday <3 I can't believe she is a year old already. My how time flies. I hope you all are having a great weekend. Remember to take time to enjoy each day, you don't get them back. Your recruits will hopefully get to spend some time today writing to you about their week so do something fun and write them about your adventure. Today I am going to ride a jet ski for the first time ever in my life. Wish me luck lol. Time to brag and show off my beautiful 1yr old granddaughter Eastyn; she is such a sweet sweet baby <3

*I don't think I would send cash in the mail.....

sorry about that!

Roxanne:  It is better to put the postcards in an envelope.  No need for "others" such as their "bosses" to see what their friends and family members write to them!

They will update their guest lists about a week before PIR and then put in the correct names.  They match the names with your ID so if you go by a different name than on your ID, be sure to write your SR and give her the correct name to put on the list.

Yes, they can buy stamps there, but it saves them money on their Supply Card if you mail them some!  Not sure about mailing her money....they really don't need much money there and are not allowed to keep alot of it.  She has her Supply Card, issued when she arrived, and I believe it is for about $100?  She can use that for whatever she needs.  I don't think I wouldn't send cash in the mail either....you might write her and ask her why she needs cash?

Hi there!  Does anyone know if we are allowed to send postcards?  I've had a couple of my daughter's friends email and ask.  Also, on the PIR list for the 4 guests permitted, my daughter wrote 'Mom and Dad'.  Do I need to have her change this to our names??

Also-- I received 10 letters today.  I'm guessing mail was hung up or something?  In one of her letters she is asking for money and stamps. Aren't they allowed to buy stamps?  Also-- what would she need money for?  I'm reluctant to send cash in the mail.

Thanks in advance for responding!

Roxanne
