~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Oh, if your SR didn't already order the PIR DVD when his/her pics were ordered, it will need to be ordered either the day of PIR or you can call the Photo Lab when you get home during the week after PIR.

You can write your SRs to let them know you definitely want the PIR DVD when they order their pics!!

Comment by diannep on July 21, 2014 at 10:58pm

The PIR DVD is $29 and can be purchased after PIR if your sailor did not purchase it.  Takes a few weeks to receive in the mail.

Comment by diannep on July 21, 2014 at 10:56pm

Most likely, most will still fly out on Saturday, maybe some on Sunday.  Doubtful that any will fly out on Labor Day.  For those with sailors staying in GL for A School, be sure to stay through Labor Day since you will have Fri, Sat, Sun and Mon with your sailors!  Fri won't start until after they move over there shortly after PIR is over....takes a few hours and then you can pick them up there.

Lanie:  Your SR can order the photos and the division tshirts during Bootcamp, but you won't be able to order any yourself until PIR day

If your SR orders Pkg A of the photos, The Keel (yearbook) is included in that for free.  If not and you want to purchase it, you must do so right after PIR.  I waited until the following week to order it and it was too late.  There is a place on RTC base to order the division tshirts after PIR also, but your SR may order them for you so check with him/her first.

If you have any questions about the piks, here is the Photo Lab phone number  847 578 6205  There is no where to preview the piks before your SR orders them.  They are not posted online.  So everything is up to your SRs during Bootcamp.

Will there be any changes as far as flying to A school since the following Monday after PIR is Labor day?

Do any of you know if there are "packages" for purchase prior to PIR, for Pictures, shirts, video etc...  I don't want to miss any deadlines..LOL

Charliedog:  OOOPS!  Well, she may get some hazing for it, but hopefully the worst that will happen is that the RDCs will take it and eat them!
