For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Comment by diannep on July 20, 2014 at 10:38am: Just know that wisdom teeth extraction is very common in Bootcamp. They get a couple of days of SIQ (sick in quarters) to recuperate and then catch up with training.

Comment by diannep on July 20, 2014 at 10:33am: Yep, I agree with CatMom....but hopefully they will get to call when they say they will! Always have phones available at all times if possible. If you cannot have your phone with you, maybe someone can "babysit" it until you can? Just so someone can answer it!

Comment by Roxanne on July 19, 2014 at 11:33pm: Got a call this afternoon! I picked up the phone and said--is this who I think it is?!! And she just started crying :( After we sobbed together for a minute, she told me how much she loved and missed me but that she is doing fine.

She arrived on July 3 but was put into a push division. She is now on 1-3 day. She said she is the MAA for her division and that she has made a ton of friends and is actually enjoying herself. I am prior military so I really tried to tell her everything she was going to be up against and she said it wasn't as bad as she thought so that made me feel better.

She has to get her wisdom teeth out next week so she is a bit worried about that. I'm just ecstatic that I got to hear her voice!! This made my day!!!!
