N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Hi!

Welcome to Navy for Moms!!

My Sailor Daughter's PIR was just this March 2013.  She is currently studying IT (Information Technician) at her A school at Corrry Station in Pensacola, Florida.  I primarily provide scriptural encouragement for the PIR groups, Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and a couple of the other groups that I am a member of.  I'll also help out with anything that I am familiar with--all kinds of tidbits I learned during my daughter's Boot Camp experience~~  This site really made the time go much faster.  I'm so thankful that my Sailor daughter sent me the link for this awesome group of friends when she enlisted!!  Count 9 Fridays and before you know it, you'll be seeing your baby again at PIR!!  Here we go!!!

If your sailors rating requires C School they will probably not get leave after A School . Generally, leave is granted only after schooling is complete and before shipping out to their permanent duty station.

While in school they can generally have weekend liberty and day liberty off base after they phase up. Schools can differ slightly on their leave and liberty policies, so you will need to find out what their schools policies are before making plans to visit.

As I understand the schedule Sailors usually can receive leave after A School unless they are assigned to a unit that is shipping out.

ellen0502. I forgot about those days in Parris Island. How right you are!

beloved by him so nice your son and my husband are in the same ship and division so i look forward to meeting you and your family on graduation day :)

LOL Probably true pat e, but the ones they are first issued and wear through BC most never want to see or wear again if at all possible, especially if they have pulled laundry duty. :)

ellen0502 You would be surprised how many SRs prefer the tidy whities. But I digress

Comment by ellen0502 on July 10, 2013 at 2:43pm

You can ask and talk about your SRs underwear though. The boys don't like their tighty-whities for many reasons, and the girls don't like their granny panties that can double as a parachute if need be.

Giggling

PIR is a wonderful experience, and watching your sailor march through the door with his division is absolutely the best. Your sailor is marching in proud, confident and like pat e said, an independent adult.  I would recommend going if at all possible.

As a marine I can tell you the PIR will be a very important day for him. It is here that your son will basically transform to an independent adult. In my opinion support would be better after BC. A school is a bit less stressful Hope to see you there

Comment by belovedbyHim on July 10, 2013 at 2:35pm

Awwww Come on pat e and ellen0502-- You are going to make this a dull group if we can't even ask questions about our underwear!! lol  Love the count down clock BTW. I'm still in a quandry as to whether i should go to PIR or Mississippi for A school to see my son.  We have a wedding in New Orleans in Oct and I can drive over to see him when he's in A school but I don't know if we can afford to go to both PIR and then see him in Oct too.  I'll have to pray about that.  I really want to see him sooner than later.  I wonder if I can talk hubby into an extra trip this year??  We'll see.
