OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Proverbs, What Div is your SR in? Just wondering if mine and yours are in the same Div, which i would mean that maybe I''ll get a call too....just hoping.

Hope your husband is recovering well.

Just got a call from our SR.  It's always so good to hear his voice.  He's training with SAR, so he's very excited and hoping to be able to get switched from subs to SAR.  We had to give him the news that my husband was rushed to ER on Friday and had 3 stents put in.  Our SR ate raw up until he went to BC and always got on us for how we ate, so we had to hear the "I told you so!" lecture :)

Hi guys just checking in! Work makes the day go fast so busy and takes the mind off of SR being away! Hope you all had a great day! Maybe a letter day Thursday! Funny story I just received a past due notice for a college library book the class ended days before he left. Ugh I can not find this book in his room or car! And by the time he responds to me it will be way overdue and he will be out 145.00 yikes! I wish I could just send a quick message and receive one back! Ugh

Hi Diannep!  I booked airline tix today!  YAY!  My hubby wanted to drive if our daughter was coming -which I was not happy about at all!  15-16 hours in the car but less expensive than 3 airline tix.  She is staying for school/soccer tourney so THANKFYLLY flying was a wash for two people compared to car rental and gas!
