~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Wise words diannep. You are right it is a hard concept for us moms, I hope I can transition into it without drama, well, I have to.......what is the waiver you mention about?
Ahhhh......everyone has to get used to the fact that the Navy is in charge of your SRs now.....for a very long time! Even if they are in the hospital....or being separated....they won't give parents personal info unless the SR signs a waiver allowing this. Their contract is between your SR and the Navy. Not an easy concept for us Moms to accept! But it sinks in pretty quickly! Many times, a parent will find out their SR is in the hospital when that SR calls her from the hospital....or even after the SR got out of the hospital. Having said that, they do take very good care of them.
Ellen0502- Thank you. While waiting nearly a month to get to hear from our SR's is almost unbearable it is nice to hear that others have had this happen too and that while not a regular happening it is also not cause for alarm. I had all kinds of thoughts running through my head of what had gone wrong and was causing his delay. I now know things are fine but the waiting was making it hard not to worry. It would be nice if they would allow them a call if they are placed on P-hold just to let us know that they're fine but they will be delayed a bit more than usual.
belovedbyHim, A year ago my son was also on hold for 16 days. They were waiting on 60 females (yes 60) to arrive to fill his division and brother division. There were only 5 divisions in his TG and his division was the last of the TG. The hold days put them almost a full week behind the first two groups. It gets confusing for those "watching and waiting" on the sidelines to figure out where they are in training, they don't follow the "rules".
Hello Friends!
"May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
be pleasing in Your sight, O Lord my Rock and my Redeemer."
Psalm 19:14
Thanks for posting that, beloved. Just as I thought, although Michelle's SR had 10 days of processing and is in one of the last divisions, yours had 16 days and is the very first division. So those processing days can go on for a long time for some of them. They can be very unpredictable!
Michelle71- My SR left on 6/26 and was on P-hold/ P-days for 16 days!! (really NAVY you could have let me have him if you didn't need him that soon!) He said that a lot of them were just sitting around not being allowed to do much except practice making their beds and folding their towels. He said that they are really goo at that now. I'm guessing that the folks who arrived later (like July 8,9,10) would be the likely ones in a Push Div rather than those who were on P-hold.
