N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

michelle71,

I was looking for the USS Hopper too and I think it's cool that it was named after  highest ranking female in the Navy computer field at the time!  Since I have a Sailor daughter who is just about to graduate from Pensacola as an IT (Information Technician) the computer relationship does not escape me~~ :D

Maybe Craig is working on that one?  There are several ships that don't have their stories completed yet, but just look at how many pages the ones up there have, so it's got to take a tremendous amount of information gathering to put one together!!

I see above that some of the ships have "the complete story" but do not see one for USS Hooper - does anyone know if that is out there somewhere?

hi diannep & thanks-CatMom and I even have Sailors in Pcola together!

Thinking about the long hold times and perhaps the July 4th holiday had something to do with that?

Mommas you are doing great-keep sharing and asking questions-together you can learn so much and it does make it easier!

spomss:  Welcome to the group!  Neat that your sailor was in CatMom's group!

Proverbs:  What a great story!

Jools:  Yes, "asmoed", setback in training which happens for many different reasons....injury, illness, academic, physical fitness, discipline, etc.

tiffw:  Hmmm....well, I'm glad you called and checked on it.  If his RDCs say it is fine to mail it, I would go ahead and do that if he wants you to.  It is true that that the SRs don't have much storage room.  That is why many ask family members to send the large envelopes so they can mail their received letters home for safekeeping.

AMEN that the Lord can speak through what he is using now!  And, like PAO said, he can always ask for a Bible there.  When my son was there, one of his RDCs frowned on the SRs attending chapel service.  I was shocked my son wouldn't go since he always liked to go to church.  He said that this guy told them that going there risked fraternization with opposite sex which was a "dischargeable" offense.  Sigh....I told him I'm sure that many still attended the services....he said some did, but it scared him (maybe it had something to do with him having a big mouth, loving to talk anyway?  ;-)  )

michelle:  We aren't sure how they determine who will be in what division.  The fact that your son was in processing days for 10 days...hmmm....but maybe there were others who had processing days for even longer and arrived before July 2nd, so filled the earlier divisions first?  Not sure....but don't worry about push divisions.  They all get it done.  Some great sailors have come out of push divisions!  :-)
