N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Thanks  for the explaination - my son left for GL on July 2 and said he was in processing for 10days so maybe he was towards the begining?  My son is AE (aviation electronics) and will go to Pensacola for A school.

As I understand it, you aren't assigned to a push division, it becomes a push division after it already exists due to the timing of when the division is formed. If the division is caught between weeks and have spent a lot of time in processing, the command has a choice between letting them continue an extra week (and spend 9 or 10 weeks in boot camp), or getting them graduated early. I'm not sure who makes the decision, but I suspect the petty officers in charge are asked if they think the group they have is pretty with it, or if they may need a little extra work.

So it's not your son's abilities, but the entire group he ended up with. Every once in a while you get a whole division of screw-ups, or a whole division of awesome kids. I also think it depends on what the group's main schools are. If they are a group mostly going to schools which only required lower scores, then they might have more trouble, while groups with a lot of Nukes or spec-ops get through things a bit faster. My son said ther are 6 nukes (he's a nuke) in his DIV

michelle, They will take pictures with and without the glasses. They didn't even ask my son when he had his taken they just told him. :)

It would either have been this week or likely next week since they are in a push division. I mailed mine out yesterday for guaranteed delivery in Monday.

not sure if it is past that date micheel but send them anyway and he can at least have them for PIR. For the pics he may just not wear the glasses at all. A lot of them who wear contacts just take off the glasses for the pic then put them back on :)

There was a mom who was supposed to be at PIR today to see her Sailor graduate. Yesterday her flight was canceled and she couldn't get another until this morning so she missed his PIR. I highly suggest you travel a day early if at all possible. Even if you can or can't do that make some friends on here or on the facebook group with a Sailor in the same division and share your cell numbers with each other. That way you can contact them if something like this comes up and they can talk to your Sailor and let them know what is going on and maybe even take them with their family for the day so that they are not just wandering around wondering why their family is not there. We are all Navy Family now and we take care of each other. The love and friendship you form now will amaze you and may last a lifetime. Also, if you have to take a later flight change your voicemail to say what is going on and when you will be landing in case your Sailor does call. Always good to have a backup plan :)

I just found this: "..Recruits may receive one pair of contacts and one week's worth of solution to wear for photos and/or graduation. Female recruits are permitted to receive minimal makeup items to wear for photos and/or graduation..."

Does anyone know if it is past photo time? I would like to send my SR one pair of contact lenses and a travel solution so he can choose to wear them or not.  I am just not sure if I have time left for that or not. It does say for anyone else interested to send in a small padded envelope or priority box which will be opened in front of the RDC and then they will be allowed to store them.

Clover65, he does have one but doesn't love the translation and said the print is so small. I was thrilled to know he was reading it!
