I was beginning to wonder if I was the only one on here! We have received two letters from my step-son. He said they had required alot of extra IT because of talking too. We did not get a phone call, I wish we did, but he probably called his mom.
Are you going to PIR? We are planning on going. I can't wait to see how he has grown up and changed! We miss him alot around our house, it is way to quiet!
Good morning, Application just approved today and I wanted to post so that you all would know that there are at least one more Mom out here :-). I also have a son on Ship 11 Div 281. He DEPPed into the Navy 10 months ago. He also said that there were individuals in the division that couldn't follow orders. We have received a couple of letters..... no box- he didn't want the stuff he wore (on purpose) returned home. We also got a phone call last week. It was so good to hear his voice. He sounds good. I am very PROUD of what he is doing. We are going to PIR, have made our reservations already (I was afraid to wait too late) I miss him alot, he was the one child I had that could always make me laugh no matter how irriated I was with someone or something... He told me that it takes 4 days for my letters to get to him and I have noticed that the two letters I have received took 4 days to get to me.
My son said that he has been receiving the mail we send him- so that makes me happy. He normally gets a card or letter from me every day. I think I have missed two days since he's been gone. I have found recently that he has been writing to a female friend more so than family, but I am ok with that as long as I know he is ok. He mentioned that they got fitted for their Navy whites- I can't wait to see him in them. We are staying off base in a Waukegan hotel. We are flying because it's a 14 hours drive for us... thank you for starting the posting "group". I have been on this site many times but wasn't sure whether to start one or not so I was thrilled when I saw that someone's mom from his same ship and division had.
