Looking to start a discussion/group with anyone that shares the same PIR/Ship/Division as my step-son.  I look forward to hearing from you!

Glad to see that there is at least one other Mom for this div.! I have received two letters and one call this past Wednesday. He indicated that this division required some extra IT because some individuals had not learned to listen!
He liked the food, past his first inspection and was doing good. Looking forward to another letter maybe this Wednesday.

I was beginning to wonder if I was the only one on here!  We have received two letters from my step-son.  He said they had required alot of extra IT because of talking too.  We did not get a phone call, I wish we did, but he probably called his mom.

Are you going to PIR?  We are planning on going.  I can't wait to see how he has grown up and changed!  We miss him alot around our house, it is way to quiet!

Im here...another mom on board!! I have received 4 letters and 2 calls but have not heard from him in the last week. Last I spoke to him he had a cold that was spreading around and pink eye. Yes they have had IT "intense training" due to some not listening..really? Can't imagine that? lol..My son is the leader of this division and just loves leading the pack. He said everyone is getting better at working together..but is learning so much, he can't believe what all he has learned. Is looking forward to seeing his me and his sister, and auntie..Sounded so confident about our Division 281..quite proud of them all!! Cant wait to meet you all...Will be at Meet N Greet Wed.31 at Ramada..6-8 Come and join the celebration of our brave sons and daughters..."Sea Bees"!!
Hi my daughter is in division 282, formerly 281, is this the same division, I got a call and lots of letters. she didnt mention too much talking so mabe its not the same group, I dont know, I just really miss her...

Good morning, Application just approved today and I wanted to post so that you all would know that there are at least one more Mom out here :-). I also have a son on Ship 11 Div 281. He DEPPed into the Navy 10 months ago.  He also said that there were individuals in the division that couldn't follow orders. We have received a couple of letters..... no box- he didn't want the stuff he wore (on purpose) returned home. We also got a phone call last week. It was so good to hear his voice. He sounds good. I am very PROUD of what he is doing. We are going to PIR, have made our reservations already (I was afraid to wait too late) I miss him alot, he was the one child I had that could always make me laugh no matter how irriated I was with someone or something... He told me that it takes 4 days for my letters to get to him and I have noticed that the two letters I have received took 4 days to get to me.

I am so glad to hear from another mom!  We still have only received the two letters, and his box of clothes.  We have written many letters to him, and family members have written to him too.  We are all so very proud of him!!!!  I hope he is getting the letters!  We have made our reservations for PIR too.  We are staying at the Naval Lodge.
Our son who is away @ school received a letter yesterday....we probably won't get one this week because of the longer call on Wednesday last week. I guess they have been fitted for their dress white's.
Unit still has a few who don't want to go with the flow. Not much else new. We made our hotel reservations too. We are lucky that we are a 6 hour car ride away..... The days keep slipping by!

My son said that he has been receiving the mail we send him- so that makes me happy. He normally gets a card or letter from me every day. I think I have missed two days since he's been gone. I have found recently that he has been writing to a female friend more so than family, but I am ok with that as long as I know he is ok. He mentioned that they got fitted for their Navy whites- I can't wait to see him in them. We are staying off base in a Waukegan hotel. We are flying because it's a 14 hours drive for us... thank you for starting the posting "group". I have been on this site many times but wasn't sure whether to start one or not so I was thrilled when I saw that someone's mom from his same ship and division had.

I did not realize that they were in a coed div. Until today. We are visiting our other son at college, so made him show me the letter he got. He wants some real news besides the happy mundane news I send him. I try....but hey, at least he gets a letter every day!
We got two letters today!!!  I was so excited!  He sounds so much better than the first two letters we got.  We have been writing most every day, and other relatives have been writing too.  He said one day he got the most letters of anyone!
Good morning everyone!!!! I don't know about you all, but I love the countdown calendar that is showing when you first click on the PIR date of 9/1/11.  Every morning I look to see exactly how long it will be until I can see my son again. No letter this week..... I was bummed, but we talked last Wednesday and he really sounded good and I was very happy so I can go without hearing from him this week...(may find a letter when I go home but most times they are there on Thursdays) I wasn't aware that they get to design their own flag. I think that is super cool. My son didn't mention that so thank you for sharing that info. He probably didn't think to mention it because of all my questions...LOL..... He said the food wasn't bad..... which coming from him is actually a compliment. He WAS a picky eater before going into the NAVY. :-) He said that they eat very healthy which I like hearing. Does anyone know if the recruits get professional photos done while they are at BC once they pass Battlestation 21 in their Navy whites? Or are those done at a later date? I'd love to have a portrait of him in his uniform. I plan to take lots of pictures on graduation day, but would still love a professional portrait. I have one of my Father in his uniform and a step-son in his uniform (different branch of the military) so I'd love one of him.
I posted this in the wrong place so trying again. I've gotten 4 letters but only one phone call.  The letter I got yesterday said he had only recieved 1 from me and 2 from his dad even though his brothers and sisters and I have all written numerous times. He mentioned the same as some of you had said about talking too much...lol  He said they had to take cold showers.  He also said about half of them had colds or were sick so cold showers didn't sound like a good punishment, but then I'm a mom, not an RDC :) He had to go to medical call and get antibiotics and got 4 days of light duty.  He said he was feeling better but like all of you I always worry.   Does anyone know when they know with absolute certainty their graduation will be Sept. 1?  He says he's doing fine but had trouble with the folding and bed making...lol...guess I should have been more strict about his room when he was at home.  He was told if he didn't pass inspection he could be ASMO'd back two weeks.  Hopefully, he's got the hang of it now. Can they be ASMO'd right up to the last minute?  We want to make reservations, but are flying on points so can't get refundable tickets.  I'm from that area of Illinois and wouldn't mind spending a couple more weeks up there waiting for him to graduate, but my kids at home wouldn't appreciate it.  He said they had started painting their flag and that he looked good in his new uniform.  That made me feel good to know he still had his self-assurance intact. He left for Great Lakes from Tampa, FL on July 6.  Any other moms from his group?  I have a photo that I took right before they boarded the plane that I'd be happy to share.  I think everyone is in the photo except for one who was on his cell phone and we didn't want to interrupt his call.
