I'm new to this and still trying to navigate my way around but I was VERY happy when I saw this post.  My son is in this group and I was hoping to meet/talk to other moms with kids in the same group.  I welcome any/all comments and tips!

My daughter is 287, also.

Nice to see other parents here.

My daughter is in this group. I got a very depressing letter from her today. She hasn't gotten any of my mail yet and is very depressed. She even had to go to the hospital and was put on 3 days SIQ (sick in quaters) Have any of you received a phone call yet? I know if she can hear my voice, she will be okay.

My daughter's letters were bad, too. She'd been in another company but got ASMOd because of knee problems & shin splints and sent into this division.

Her dad got a call yesterday - they're sending her home. I think it's for depression or anxiety - she absolutely was not prepared to join, and her dad (I live in another state) didn't make her run or prepare her mentally for it.

I'm hoping she'll grow up and be able to join again in a few years.

Giasams, my daughter didn't get my letters for weeks, and wrote asking why I hadn't written. Just keep writing - she'll eventually get them. I think it's too soon for them to get phone calls home unless they're having medical/legal issues and are getting sent back in training.

Hello ladies-I hope you all got calls.  My son called today.  It was only a quick 10 minutes but it was good talking to him.  He said the food was good and he had made a couple of friends that will be going to the same A school as him.  He was in  high spirits and seemed to be adjusting fine.

Yep. I got my phone call today from my daughter. It was so great hearing her voice. she is still having some troubles (medically) and they may send her home. She is doing better mentally though and she also said the food was good and they get plenty of it. She is still very homesick and cried a lot during the call, but I stayed upbeat and encouraged her as much as possible. We both hope her medical problems get resolved and hope she can stay, but either way I'm so proud of her.

I am sorry your daughter is struggling.  My oldest that went through last year seemed to have one problem after another.  Every time he called he was upset.  I would stay positive while on the phone and then when he would hang up I would just fall apart.  It is so frustrating not being able to help them.  I was always so worried about him and how he was doing.  He did make it and now is in the fleet and loving his job but boy was it struggle with him this last year!  My son in BC right now is so very different and I am not worried about him.  I know it is probably tough and I know he misses us but he will be fine.

I got my 1st phone call TODAY!!!!!!  I was SOOOO happy to hear from my son!!!  He, too, mentioned that he was "surprised at how good the food was, and a HUGE selection, too!"  It made me laugh.  He sounded SO happy on the phone--laughing and joking---it really makes his being gone much easier on me!   I have a rather stupid question  if someone who's "in the know" could answer for me, PLEASE??  I was wondering does the Navy put a notice in a newspaper listing all graduates (from BC) , or is that something the parents/loved ones do?
You will have to do it if you want it in your local paper.  The Navy does do "Hometown news releases" but I could never imagine having to do it for all of those recruits graduating every week.  Glad to hear your son is doing good.  It really is a good feeling knowing they are doing good.
That's what I thought but figured it doesn't hurt to ask.  You are SO right....it IS a really, really great feeling knowing your son/daughter is doing well!!  Thank you for answering my question and/or any future questions.

Your welcome.

My second letter from my daughter wasn't as bad as the first. She is still having a lot of physical problems and is on light duty. She said the RDC doesn't like that too much and is giving her a very hard time about not having to do a lot of stuff. It is also setting her back enough that I'm beginning to wonder how she could possible still graduate on time. She didn't sound as depressed though (a few "lol"s in her letter) so she seems to be mentally better. Maybe the next letter will be better. At least she's writing!
