For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Comment by diannep on August 29, 2015 at 5:03pm: missymom: 1-3 a.m. would bethe time they are bussed to the airports, not flying. They are all bussed there to wait for flights. So hopefully her flight would be later in the morning or day and you can spend time with her at the airport. The first flights out are usually around 6 a.m. or so.

Comment by diannep on August 29, 2015 at 12:05pm: Ajenavymomoferin: That may very well be that they will schedule flights later because of the depression/storm may be arriving in that area (but the course of the storm keeps changing....believe me, here in Miami, we have been watching it for a week!). Normally they fly out on Sat. or Sun. But this being a holiday weekend also....that could have something to do with it. You never know. She will not know flights until right before PIR. If she is held at RTC, yes, you should have Liberty with her then. Daytime only, as is the case for all sailors during Liberty. You can only hope! Very doubtful they would be flying out on Labor Day....and actually, odd they would fly out on Tues as I would think that is a heavy travel day as well because of Labor Day. I guess time will tell!

My daughter said same thing in the I'm a sailor call that flight was being changes to likely tues now. I'm hoping that means she get liberty with us. She said wasn't sure why. I live 45 mins from there and ericka is projected to be direct hit now as it shift this way. It has disappeated but may regain. Strength with landfall by sat next week. Escambia county is in watch mode so therefore base follows as well. I have the link somewhere for weather stuff. This is my thinking why her flight may be changing but agin this is theory on my part and not fact

Yes, there are no BattleStations this weekend....they will start back Mon night and continue Tues night also. So I'm a Sailor calls will come in on Tues and Wed afternoons for the remaining divisions.
