N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

So after PIR on Friday, what is there to do in Great Lakes  with your new Sailor until curfew?  Ours will be leaving on Saturday. Someone mentioned that it's a bit of a drive to Chicago, so I'm not sure we want to spend precious time driving too far.

diannep, we've been trying to figure out the DOT.  On Facebook, it's been indicated that they are in week 2 of training. My SR is Div 289. I'm hoping my SR writes and lets me know what his DOT is.

Is it the courtyard in Lincolnshire?

Comment by Irishrose on July 20, 2015 at 10:54pm

Thank you for all the great information and help so I can plan my trip out to the graduation.

AudsMom:  Others recommended on here are:

Residence Inn, Courtyard, Holiday Inn Express, Springhill Suites....about 4-5 miles from RTC, all very near the MeetandGreet put on by Sarge that you referred to.  Call these hotels directly and ask for the Navy Graduation discount.  If you really would like to stay at Navy Lodge, keep calling them back because they do get cancellations....call them directly, don't check online for that.  You can book at one of the hotels above for backup and cancel if Navy Lodge becomes available.

Mickatee:  Praying that he will graduate before Thanksgiving...once they give him the medical clearance, he will train again.  Blessings to him and to you!  We will see you again in a later PIR group!

Just tried Navy Lodge and it's booked. What other hotels do you recommend for PIR. I recall Sarge has a party for parents the night before PIR.

Dropping out of this group, our SR called tonight - bad sprained ankle and is on medical hold (a little tee hee, he fell out of his rack). A little worried, he sounded a little stressed which makes it hard on the mama heart strings. He said - they said "he should graduate around Thanksgiving" Fingers crossed and praying - as hard as this is on us, it's really what he wants.
