N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

For the Ship 13 Div 292 Moms, where are you all from? Any coming from California?  My SR left swearing in with two others, just curious if they are in his Div.

momofsailor:  Calls are so random and unexpected.  My son gave me the I'm here call (missed it but left a message) when he was there 5.5 yrs ago....said he would be calling again in 3 weeks....and actually called again in 3 days!  So....you never know.  Keep that phone close at all times!

Just my personal opinion here, Arlene, but I would bring that 5th person.  He/she can meet up with your sailor after PIR is over and celebrate!  We have heard that those allowed in the Chapel are ushered back to the Visitors Center after the ceremony is over.  I assume that they meet up with family members there and can wait with you to take your sailor for Liberty.  But again, the Family Guide asks that extras please stay at the hotels.  Just passing on their info and what some have done in the past.

Comment by diannep on July 18, 2015 at 2:49pm

Arlene:  Any extras are asked to stay at the hotel, etc during PIR.  However, they sometimes allow extras in the Chapel on RTC to watch the Livestream of the ceremony....they will not be allowed in the PIR Hall however.  We advise extras trying to get on base to have backup transportation back to the hotel in the event they are not allowed on base.  In the past in some PIR groups, some were not allowed on base (usually these are larger PIR groups).  If you take a shuttle to PIR, ask your driver if he/she can return your extras to the hotel if they are denied entry.
