Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

I just got a security call and it felt awesome to hear her voice. Confirmed her division and ship. She then asked me to send her a couple things like another activated phone card and asked If I could send it priority. She said hers wasn't working

Blessed:  Your new sailor will have orders/flight info shortly before PIR, so, yes, you will have this info after PIR.  Until then, the SRs/sailors do not know if they are leaving on Sat. or Sun, but most will leave on Sat.

fayegirrl4*,

Oops! Could you please remove your SR's first and last name from your post? Copy and paste, then delete the original post by clicking the X on the upper right corner. It is a security matter not to reveal this info on any open forum. Also, sometimes the RDCs come on these groups and it's better not to have any SR matched up with their moms. If you want to "Add as Friend" anyone, just click on their name or pic, do the Friend Request, then you can private message each other personal info. Thanks~~

BlessedX3-- our letter said recruits are permitted to invite UP TO FOUR guests to graduation, limited by the size of the graduating class and drill hall capacity. No exceptions will be authorized.

My dad will be travelling with us as well but will not be in attendance. He will stay back at the hotel and hopefully get to watch the graduation via live stream on my mom's laptop.

I probably need to make sure her laptop will be able to do that. I know I tried to watch our nephew's graduation last November and couldn't because I wasn't on a desk top computer.
