N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Bear's mom I had that same problem. I went through everything in my closets and cabinets and asked my family to do the same. I got rid of clothes I didn't wear some furniture that had been put in the basement and lots of other items I culd live without. I took some things to a consignment shop and then had two different yard sales and I sold enough to pay for the trip. We went on a small budget, drove from NC straight through and stayed only two nights at the Navy Lodge. Packed a cooler full of drinks, sandwiches and snacks and took our sailor out to dinner the night of PIR. I was amazed at how little we spent. Our whole trip was less than $500 and we had to travel a long way so it could be cheaper if you live closer. Remember the Navy Lodge doesn't charge tax so the price is the price nothing added to it and they give you a temporary shopping pass for the NEX down the street where you can get a few necessities and they also don't charge tax. Normally you have to have military ID to shop there. I hope you can figure out a way to make this happen. I would ask friends and family if they need things done, house cleaning, babysitting, lots of ways to make some extra cash :)

Thank you  CatMom509 ...I just came here looking for something inspirational to put in today's letter to my SR and the scripture you shared is perfect!  I am looking at the calendar and realizing that our time for writing to our SR's is getting short!  We are almost THERE!!!

Just ready to see my SR! I miss her and sometimes it's easier to stay low.

This group is super quiet, quiet on facebook as well. Where is everyone hiding? We miss you all. Please let us know how you are doing.

Thanks, CatMom509. I made a little book for my son with famous people who were in the Navy and I will attach the scripture to it.
