Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

jonandtysmom,
You're sweet, Sister!!
When ellen0502 puts up the discussion groups in the Discusion Forum in a few weeks, you will be able to talk to each other there too. In the meantime, get to know each other here because you all have SRs graduating on the same day~~
I met one of my sweetest friends through just the PIR group and we ended up in the same A school group too~~
Hey everyone, I want to give you a "HEADS UP" to be prepared to receive calls from your SRs this weekend! The call will show up as "847", "Pay Phone", or "Government" or anything else that may be unfamiliar. If it is a sales call, just politely tell them "No, thank you."
During this time in Boot Camp, please keep your cell phones charged, ready, and with you all the time---upstairs, downstairs, out in the backyard, in the bathroom, out to get the mail, of course, out on errands. If you are going to a loud restaurant or a movie theater, remember to put it on "vibrate" and put in your pocket or some place you can feel it. They can call during the week or weekend, so just be prepared: 6:00 am - 6:00 pm (West Coast); 8:00 am - 8:00 pm (Great Lakes time); 9:00 am - 9:00 pm (East Coast).
Lots of info in the Pages link below for you all. Please read through it:
smallfutures: The form letter can sometimes take up to 2 weeks or longer. to be received Could he have mailed it to anyone else? They only mail out one. You can call the recruiter if you need Ship/Div numbers, mailing info. Just make sure to check it with the form letter when it arrives to see if it is accurate (form letter is the accurate one, but many times the recruiter's is the same).
Leslee: It sounds like your son may have been in the last group to fill up a division in PIR 8/29? Again, you should be albe to call the recruiter and get info. There is no harm in booking a hotel room directly with them since they let you cancel, no charge, either until the day before or day of arrival. Some of them fill up pretty quickly so you may want to think about that! Once you get the recruiter's info, you may want to book a room. Hotel suggestions from those on this site are: Navy Lodge (book in your SR's name if you do not have military ID), Holiday Inn Express, Springhill Suites, Courtyard Inn, and Residence Inn. Call all of these hotels directly and ask for the Navy Graduation discount (Navy Lodge doesn't offer one). Navy Lodge is about a mile from RTC; the others are about 4-5 miles from RTC and near the MeetandGreet held for you all the night before PIR.
I also have recvd my son's box, and have yet to receive the form letter. On top of that everyone I talked to that their family member left the same day as him say their form letter shows PIR as 9/5. My son got to call me yesterday because he needs so answers to things on his security clearance paperwork and when i mentioned it to him, he thought his PIR was Aug 29th. So i have held off booking RSVP for a room or anything until I get the actual letter in my hands.
finally got my form letter today and found out my fiancé will be graduating on this day! is there anyone else out there with ship 13, div 277?!
