OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Events

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).  Still limited to 2 guests maximum.

Specific information on this policy change will be provided in the coming days and weeks.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your support.

**UPDATE - 2020**

Due to COVID there is no public PIR. The graduations are on Thursday, and the video of the graduation is posted on RTC's FaceBook on Friday at approx 3pm. Please keep in mind that a division may need to complete additional quarantine during training which will delay their graduation.

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

Hello...My son is in ship 11 in div 280, from PA.

Received my letter today and my son is also on Ship 3 in Division 281. We are from Nampa, Idaho. Hope to meet others

My son is also there. We are from Las Vegas

here is a link to a facebook group that you may want to join. There are people on it now from all the active PIR groups as well as several people who have already had PIR who help answer questions. Just be sure to keep coming to this N4M's page and share any letters and info you have received and to ask questions that other may benefit from as well. Some people do not have facebook and you want to meet them and get to know them as well :-) https://www.facebook.com/groups/327167160695549/  Thanks everyone and welcome to your PIR group page. There is also a Navy for Moms group on facebook and a Navy Mom group on facebook but I am not sure if they are closed groups or not.

If you want a facebook group that is for your individual PIR or Divisions please start that group yourself, make it a closed group and let people ask to join. Don't go to one that others have created because you have no way of knowing who they are or if they really have someone at bootcamp or in the Navy. You always want to be safe when online and no matter what site you are on please don't discuss ship movement or give specific dates.

Tracyln - My son will be going to MS after BC also and PIR is 9/7.  So, if they don't know each other at BC, I bet they meet in MS!

My son's girlfriend got the first letters today!  Can't wait to go home and check the mailbox.  She said he sounded fine, but was getting his wisdom teeth pulled yesterday or today, but he didn't mind because he gets to lay around for a couple of days.LOL.  Check your mailboxes!!!!

my son is on ship 3 in div 281 also.  We are from New Albany, IN.  His girlfriend got a short letter today...hoping I get one tomorrow.

My boyfriend is in ship 3 div 281 as well. I got 1 envelope today with a letter from every night he's been there. So, 12 letters total. They're all kinda short, but that's ok. It was so nice to finally hear from him!
I can't hardly wait to get home and check the mailbox
