Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

I beg to differ diannep. That information came directly from RTC.

Don't think that is true, HooyahWife.  Once they are released by RTC, they are not under their rules anymore.  BUT....they DO know the problems they will have if they don't behave.  We have never heard that there is an issue with family members/sailors staying during the day at the Hilton OHare (inside the airport) while waiting for flights (the Hilton has a day rate).  Maybe this info is from someone confused with being allowed overnight Liberty?  That is not allowed at all.  The sailors at the airports hang out in the USO centers normally.  It is strongly advised that they do NOT leave the airports with family members even if they have a long wait....because if anything happens and they miss their flights....uh oh when they get to A School.  Not a pretty picture!

I just read on the RTC Facebook page, our SRs aren't allowed to hangout at the Hilton Ohare airport hotel the day they fly out? Did something change?

Friends,

This scripture is so appropriate for the Battlestations that your SRs will be going through soon.  Perhaps you can share with your SR in a letter now.

     "Fear not, for I have redeemed you;

      I have summoned you by name;  you are mine.

      When you pass through the waters,

      I will be with you; and when you pass

      through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.

      When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned;

      the flames will not set you ablaze.  For I am the Lord,

      your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior..."

                                                                 Isaiah 43:1b-3a

Jayzmom, here is the site https://m.facebook.com/ASBPGreatLakes?refid=13&_ft_=top_level_p.... My husband is in 306 and wrote he was going to donate blood but I don't see him in the picture so this must only be some of them.

amanda:  In the past, many have stayed in that area.  Marriott is great, so I'm sure that you will be fine!  Just add about 10-15 extra minutes to your travel time to RTC.

Good Morning All !

I just booked a room at the Marriott in Lincolnshire. Has anyone else stayed at this location?

Comment by Pam W. on August 24, 2015 at 6:44pm
If you are a Marriott rewards member try to look at booking through their site as well. We received a better discount through Marriott than Southwest.
