For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

ipad electronics question
I know they cant get gifts at graduation but eventually i am giving my son an ipad for graduating. I went and checked them out today. There are 2 versions of wifi...one is wifi that you use where you can pick it up at home or starbucks,etc, whoever has it for free. Or you can have one that you buy service through ATT or whoever and pay for the service so you an use it anywhere and you dont have to be hooked up to someone else's wifi...So do they have access to wifi anytime they are in service with the navy on the ship, in an office, in a submarine, wherever...i dont know about submarines...not tech savy...anyway, any input anyone has would be appreciated. Thanks!

I don't know the answer to this but I sure would like to know to. This is a great idea for a grad gift for them to take with them. Hope someone answers you back who knows.

I do not know the answer either, but I do know this...Kyle told me not to bring any of his stuff computer and or phone ...he said it is up to the base at his A school if he can have it with him or not. He said each base is different...so I am waiting tell he gets to FL to see if he needs me to send it to him or not....just an FYI

Thanks I heard that too. I am bringing it to graduation to let him know we got it just so it can take it away from him again...lol..not really funny. Just want him to know he has it and will give or send to him when he gets the ok. I thought they would be much easier to carry around then a laptop which he already has.

No, they will not have any wifi on Navy ships or submarines and will not be able to connect any personal electronics to the ships network. They will have access to Navy computers where they can send email on occasion.
Anything they have will have to be used without internet access while they are at sea.
