Got the letter tonight. I knew it was on the way, so walked to the mailbox with my glass of wine.  The form letter is so impersonal, it's sad.  Cherishing those blanks that he filled in with his own writing. I could just picture him trying to write it so neatly.

I guess it's time to look for flights!

I thought exactly the same thing. Especially about the hand writing. I didn't even realize it was his until I seen the number 6 in the zip code!!

Hello Ladies,  I  too received my letter yesterday, we just went throught this the last couple of months with our daughter she graduated on 7/13.  I was suprised that i could actually read my sons writing!  It sure didnt take them long to fix that for him.  Any way if I can help answer any questions or help feel free to friend me here so we can message on a private forum...ToriC ship 13 Div 312

Got my letter :)

So glad I can finally start mailing the letters I wrote. My husband kept looking at the pile like I had lost my mind.

Hi MaileS! Isn't a relief?! Glad you got the letter. Now I guess we wait for the personal letter :)

Hi all got my letter today, box last week. I've had another son go through BootCamp so I've been here before however my 1st one did not PIR. My SR did add to his letter that his address will be changing and he would send the new one soon. So I will send him his letters to the one we got today and hope they find him ;)

This is so exciting!  Wow!  Can't wait until we get a call now that they have been in a lttlle over a week!  I have wrote so many letters and cards to him!

Hi - I got my letter Friday. My son is DIV 312. I also analyzed his writing to see if he was stressed...I know him so well. It's probably the neatest I have ever seen him print anything. Amazing!

My Daughter said they stand over top of you and make sure the writing is neat and yell the whole time! lol So they learn to write neat! I couldn't even read his handwritng prior to getting his letter!--kinda curious as to how neat any personal letters are...  I hope they can get him to keep a clean room also! lol...That was a joke from the Commanding Officer at our daughters PIR!  We are staying at the Navy Lodge -- it is cheap 65.00 a night, reasonably close and we had a small kitchenette in ours.  The breakfast they give you is a bagel, granola bar and juice in a bag ready to go.

Wow I didn't realize they stand over and yell at you while your writing. Maybe that's how we should've taught them to write ;)

we got the form letter on friday. I have already sent three letters and his sister wrote him im sure he will be thrilled to get that one lol. Cant wait to get a phone call just to hear how he is doing. Hope all is well with everyone.

Just bought our tickets to PIR! We're bringing his grandmother, too even though she's not on the list. We'll be staying at the Residence Inn.

We're flying into Milwaukee late on Wednesday night and staying at an airport hotel before heading down.  Also going to grab the rental car Thursday morning. The price for rental cars go down significantly if you start your rental on Thursday instead of Wednesday. Wednesday rentals were over $50/day and Thursday rentals started at $22/day. Crazy.
