OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

navyprincessmom, So sorry to hear that. I hope that all works out for you. There are so many flying in from all over the country. If you need to change flights, check into flying into Milwaukee ( approx an hr from GL) , Madison ( 1 1/2 from GL), or even Appleton WI ( probally 2 1/12 hr from GL).

Would be easy to rent a car from any of these airports.

kigils, have you read anywhere about parking for handicap? There has been an overwhelming amount of info and I cannot remember if that was an option. My husband is planning on bringing his walker which has a seat in it also....that is one option for him.

Hi AWESOME PIR group~!  I am flying in from colorado and I was checking with our airline and was told that we may want to cancel our flight (we would have to drive) Due to the severe backlog of flights due to the shutdown...does anyone else have the same issue??

I have issues too williewish and can't walk or sit for long. I don't usually use a wheelchair but am getting one for PIR.

I have had a question and I keep forgetting to ask. Any thoughts....my husband has had many major surgeries and will have a difficult time walking and then sitting for the PIR. I am thinking that I will try and get one of those stadium seats for the 2 hours but does anyone have any other suggestions?

My husband and I are using Sarge for our transportation. We are arriving at 10:30 am, Thursday. Would anyone like to share the ride with us?

Right diannep. He will love even sitting in the passenger seat. He graduated from high school in June, took off after his graduation party with two friends. Drove his suburban 5500 miles out west camping and sleeping many nights in the vehicle. They saw so much on that trip, Black Hills, Redwoods of Ca., Oregon, Glacier.

After he gets to A school in Pensacola, depending how long he will be there, I might drive it down to him. It seems that he can have a vehicle down there.

The Facebook group for PIR 10/3 are ....I have no words. They are all making centerpieces, ribbons, poster boards. I love the excitement.  I can't even keep up with all them. I offered to make a gift basket for Sarge's even though I am donating $$. Happy to do whatever.

Ahhh, williewish.  I know he will love seeing his car!  He can't drive it while on Liberty though.   Hope he is ok watching you all drive "his baby!"  HA!

I think you have the right idea on the MeetandGreet!

Comment by williewish on September 28, 2014 at 5:18pm

I have his things all ready to bring down but, we are driving his 89 suburban ( his baby) down there for graduation. I know that he misses it but, I need to REALLY clean it before coming down. He left it almost as dirty as his room. Otherwise...good to go!

I have decided....NO centerpieces for the Meet Greet. Just going to go and have fun.
