Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Just wanted to let you know, I found out those 2 recruits who lied about my Sailor are no longer in the Navy. Both were sent home... One for dishonesty (apparently, he lied on his application as well), and the other for behavior issues, including not working well with the team. Meanwhile... my son became a Sailor! Justice served.
Thanks for your message. I hope so too! I was very surprised they would do that. Thankfully, my SR has moved on and things got better after that incident. He's doing well and the letters we got today were decidedly more upbeat! I'm so relieved, and happy for him.
Make change 3 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link). There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.
Since you have a recruit at the RTC, you can change "Waiting to leave for Boot Camp" above to "Enlisted."
Welcome to Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). I look forward to sharing this journey with you. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) for information on what to expect and to help you prepare for PIR. Start with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) and Arrival and What Happens at the RTC and read 1 or 2 pages a day and then go back to them as you need the info. Take care and blessings to you and yours.
Thanks for the Friend request; I hope we can be around for some time to support each other. If there is ever anything I can help you with, don't hesitate to ask. Take care and blessings to you and yours.
Join Sub Moms and check out Naval Submarine Base New London Facebook Page. Your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR. See PIR Day and Liberty during PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend.
Join the group, DEP-Leavin for bootcamp in August. You will meet others with loved ones leaving the same day/week who may be in the same TG and have PIR together. Be sure to check out the discussion, Things to Do in the Last Month before Your Future Sailor Leaves for the RTC. I also suggest you to join Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and begin checking out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions there.
Your future Sailor may want to join http://www.navydep.com to learn the ins and outs from the DEP point of view. Craig runs that and will steer him to some good links on there.
