Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!
Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!
Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Good morning everyone!!! One day closer!!!!!!! :) we are attending some Friday night high school football tonight.(Texas) Just wished it was our J still out there playing.
Williewish, I'm with you. Not sure I would even tell him. : ( breaks your heart but you have to protect him. She has moved on. He is in a place right now where they need nothing but positives. ;) can't wait to see all of them in their dress whites standing proud.
I'm sure glad to have been in contact with mommas from all over. I enjoy this site and the constant support.

My SR was told that there is a very good possibility that he will fly out of O'Hare at 2 a.m. Saturday . There will be close friends down there with us and we were all hoping to go to the airport. I have seen the info somewhere in regards to who can go to the gate. Can someone refresh me on where that is?

J'sstepmom, You are the coolest! What a great idea that you had to send an extra letter. I know how much my son appreciates getting letters and cards. He wants to write his past girlfriend so he has asked for her address. I saw on Facebook that she has a new boyfriend. He is just starting to sound upbeat so, I think that I will not tell him about the new guy and not send him her address. Maybe we won't notice. :)

Another Friday Down!
I just spent, way to long but had fun, putting together questionnaires from ones others had done. Tweaked them to my likes and have started pre-stuffing envelopes so they don't all go out at one time. Then I will put them in his Navy scrapbook. Instead of letters, I started using Microsoft Publisher, which I love, and started forming 2 page new letters. Some random stuff, some stuff about his favorite bands, bullets on my week. Have a blast with that! I am also starting several at a time with cute pics or cartoons or fun facts, band stuff and then will fill in with letter stuff. Why didn't I start this sooner?!

LLynn, I'm glad you got a letter. I can relate to him - I'm so so so grateful for the phone calls I've received, but they're also the worst times I feel the pain of my SR's absence.

I received a call last night. Apparently my SR had oral surgery Monday to have 2 wisdom teeth removed. I had no idea until Yesterday. He said he was scared. He has never had any oral surgery before and they kept him awake. But he was feeling better and still sore. Has stitches on both sides of his mouth. On a good note he passed his written test. I cant wait to hug him.

My grandson said that everyone in 09/307 was receiving mail except him but that was because he had not given us his info. He hasn't gotten our letters yet but we started sending them Monday. So proud of him!
