Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!
Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!
Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

I know what you mean Lynn, I can't wait to see and hug my son too. You would never know I sent him off to college over eight years ago. He has not lived at home for almost four years now. Somehow this is more nerve wracking.

I got a call from my SR late this afternoon. He really loves getting mail, says that the letters are what keeps him going. His bunkmate had watch so he didn't think he was going to be able to call home. So if there is a mom out there from North or South (sorry I can't remember) Carolina that didn't get a call that's why. Div 310 is starting to come together it sounds like :)

Klgils- I am very happy! Yes, I write him every night and mail a letter and/or card every day. I know he has to do this his way and I support him 100%, some days it is just hard not knowing. I am anxious to see him and hug him again!

Klgils, I have just wrote a letter and placed a star on the envelope or card and included it in my stepsons envelope. I wrote in my stepsons letter that he could give it to a friend or person that wasn't receiving mail. :) I got a letter from him today and he said he gave one to this boy and he really loved it. I have sent two letters and 1 card extra so far. So sad to think some of the recruits don't have anyone to write them. : (

Do any of you know the first names of those recruits not receiving mail? I want to include letters/cards to them when I mail my next letter to my son.

Hi LLynn, you must be thrilled to have heard from him. I pray that he has an easier time adjusting in the coming days and feels he can call you soon. Have you been writing to him?

Today I received my first contact from my SR since he left on August 6th. What a wonderful day it is! The letter was short and bittersweet but one I will treasure forever! He has chosen not to call because it has been too difficult for him. 35 days cannot pass quickly enough for this Mom! 14/310
