N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I got a call just before 9am this morning.  He's on ship 3 div 378.  The call didn't last long but at least I know he's doing fine.  He sounded good and said he liked it.  I've wrote him everyday since he left and I'm going to mail out the first of the letters tomorrow.

I did just reserve one room, it will be my 15 yo son and myself.  My personal email is on2nursing@yahoo.com if you'd like to talk more.  I can't get onto the site during the work day.  This is going to be such a great time.

I've been leaning towards the Navy Lodge. Did you just get one eoom? I'll have to see if they have small suites, don't need to sleep 6 but need two beds/rooms. We had talked about trying to arrive Thursday afternoon to attend Sarge's Meet and Greet.

I made reservations at Navy Lodge for Thursday and Friday night.  I am planning on starting the drive back on Saturday.

Hi there! I'll be traveling thru Omaha from Denver. Have you picked a hotel yet? I have a list but haven't made any calls yet.

Anyone from KS, Kansas City, or NE?  I am driving to graduation from Great Bend, KS, thought it may be fun to caravan along the way.  I have ex inlaws in Omaha so I can either go that way or up through KC.

@ Tori. Yes you can send phone cards (everyones personal phones came home in the box, or should have), so don't worry. Calls seemed to be a little hit and miss yesterday. Could have been a number of reasons. I didn't get one either. And it didn't look like any calls went out today. I grabbed my son a phone card at Costco 700 minutes for $20. Hoping he shares his extra minutes, I doubt he'll ever use half of it. Write him a great letter, and be patient, he'll call or write as soon as he can. Be sure to check out all the discussions, lots of great info to help you thru rhe next few weeks. Be brave!

Yes
Send a phone card
With at least 400 min
Pre activate
So he won't have too. Spend time doing that

Hi new to this site my son left on August 5th, Ship 12 DIV 371. I see they made phone calls, little disappointed as I didn't get one. He send his phone home in the box. Are they able to receive phone cards in the mail.
