Hi Judy262-I have a son in this group.
oh good! 2 more moms whose sons are with mine! nice to meet you both!
My son just called a couple of hours ago. He's been transferred to this division, for medical reasons he has been dropped from Spec War. He was very disappointed, but told him there must be something bigger and better for. My heart does hurt for him.
I am sorry to hear his first plans are changed. BUT-you'r right sometimes the path laid out for us is different but better
than what we plan. Hey - Div 10 334 is a good one :-). And you got a call...
Thanks Akmom!! We just take on day at a time!!
when my s.r. was a dep we had to deal with a few changes and some mishaps that was out of our hands and nothing to do with him. It is an emotional roller coaster to be on-and through prayer and knowing it will all be for their best is what kept us going. ( Though I did sometimes think to myself that I did not always get the "humor" in this-ha) Looking forward to meeting you in Oct
I look forward to meeting all of you! What is your son's job? My son hasn't decided, mentioned corpsman. Also is the address 3600 Ohio St, wasn't sure if what the same as his prior divison.
Hi There My son is a nuke SR. No the address is not the same. I write to Sailor dr. Perhaps if you contacted the recruiters office they can give you the correct address? Your son neds a little time to digest the change. Something will grab him. Or he will be suggested something he seems good for I am sure.
Hello. My son Joe is also a NUKE.
Hey-our boys will probably be in school together for a while. mine wants to go the machinist way. Yours?
you already got a letter? I haven't gotten one yet- but then again as of Sun he still hadn't gotten any of the ones I sent him! (I know this because he had a chance to call home- and no one was here! we were all in TN checking up on how his sister was doing. he never wrote my cell number down before leaving and the last letter I wrote him has it in there so he could call my cell like I asked him to do just so I wouldn't miss his call!) his message on the answering machine said he was given 10 min to talk to people and the only number he could remember was the home number. he asked me to write him with my cell, his sister's cell (which I also already sent him) and a couple of his friends' cells.... poor kid wouldn't be in this situation if he had listened to me and written these numbers down or memorized them before leaving, but I won't tell him that! lol
Nathan is going into crypto... he was interested in nuke, but is color blind so couldn't do that. so went into what my neighbor used to do since that was what got him to go talk to the Navy in the first place.
even though I missed his call this weekend, I have talked to him 3 times already, besides the initial "I'm here" call- he needed more address and phone numbers for his security clearance. could have been just one call if he hadn't put down several friends who were under 18 on his initial form despite being told not to do that... hearing his voice has made this easier, despite not getting any letters besides that form letter. but I do feel bad that no one was here when he called.... although it would have been hard to explain why we were all in TN if he had called my cell since I haven't told him about his sister's accident yet- I am waiting til I see him at his grad.
Nathan called me today. he finally got my letters on the 31st, along with one from one of his aunts. it was kind of funny, after he said hi, he asked if he could be kind of a jerk and ask me for some phone numbers... gave him the ones he wanted then talked to him for about 10 min- then let him go (although I would have loved to talk to him for as long as he could talk!!) so he could try to call his sister (sent her a text to warn her he might call and remind her not to mention the accident) and his friend... he said they get mail every weekday but can only send mail on Sun. he actually wrote a letter, but is waiting til he can mail it! can't wait!

he also told me they got a division flag today and were marching pretty good together on the way to where he was calling so the rdc was kind of happy with them today...
