OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

shelly:  Glad you found the discussion group above for your brother divisions...stay on this main page too for lots of info!  The discussion groups are for chit chat and support!

Good Morning!

They probably are aware of their BattleStaitons date so ask in a letter or call.  Do not post publicly here or on FB but you can say you have a date and people can private message you for it.

Good Morning!

I agree livinginGrace that this site has been invaluable.  I come here to get my information and to ask my questions.  I do however enjoy the social interaction of the FB site.  It can get a little crazy at times but I have found that both sites have very supportive members.  I've said before, I wish I had known about this site before my SR shipped out.  It would have made things so much easier.   Welcome back livinginGrace!

I haven't't been on here much lately as we moved so I have missed a lot. Please forgive me if I am asking a question already answered. Does anyone have a date for battlestations for their SR and their division? Someone from my SR brother division said they had a date. Is it safe to say that is possible. I am just curious to know I and a few of my girlfriends will be fasting and praying through this day if we can get a date. Thank you all. And as a side note I appreciate tbis site far more than the Facebook page. It tends to have a drama tone to it and I am not much for that. I appreciate all you veteran moms and solid info you pass along its a joy to be on here..

CamsMom, I believe if you click the link below you have to request to join the Group.  An admin will then contact you about what ship and div your recruit is in before they will grant access so watch your messenger.
