Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Hi Mom's enjoying reading everyone's comments. We were so excited to get our form letter this weekend. I started to laugh when I saw the perfect block letters on the front because my Jack has never been a neat writer leave it to boot camp. He is in Div 339 are there any other mom's with recruits in his div ? Would love to know. sounds like no one received any phone calls. Sent one of the fun form letters from this web site and looking forward to the response.Well Navy mom's hope you all have a great week. God bless all our SR!

RiverRose,

You can check out "800 and 900 Divisions" up on the Pages section on the upper right to see what are the respective duties of these divisions~~  Lots of important info up there.  "What ARE They Doing in Boot Camp" has loads of stuff and videos too~~

I had my son bring $10 worth of phone card. I'm mailing another phone card that I bought @ Walgreens. I have mailed 9 letters already because I started writing daily to him and saved them on my notes the day he left. Them I typed them up and mailed them after we received the form letter.
I'm just crossing my fingers that all the documents that I faxed to their Division lead are sufficient for his security clearance. I have also warned the people listed as references to kindly answer calls from area code 847. So far they have not been called.

Yes, they can buy phone cards there at the NEX with the supply card issued to them when they arrived.  But it helps them if you can mail them one too!
